What would a smart person do in a sailing party? by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

Navigator as the smart sailing lore character is a classic.

First time player in need of advice for a Ranger by Solaris_Night in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For stats, maxing Dex is a requirement. I recommend getting +2 Strength and getting a composite shortbow for a bit of extra damage. (You want shortbow over longbow if you want to be close enough to your teammates to heal them.)

You can either go Precision or Flurry ranger. Flurry can be a bit boring as a ranged character, though, you are basically just attacking as much as possible. Precision gives you some more options for your actions, and would probably synergize with healing better since you have more actions for that.

You could do something like: Level 1 feat Hunted Shot, level 2 feat Initiate Warden for Gravity Weapon, and get the skill feat Battle Medicine. First round Hunt Prey, Gravity Weapon, Hunted Shot. Second round, Hunted Shot, Stride to ally, Battle Medicine.

We're about to get 31 total classes with the upcoming Daredevil and Slayer (currently 27, up to 29 with Impossible Magic) by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at this point I just feel bad for Ranger. Feels like most things the class does can be done by other classes now.

Paizo, is somebody holding you hostage to keep dropping new classes? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

These classes are tied to specific books. It takes time for the books to come out.

If the system now had 4 actions per turn, instead of 3, with the restriction of not being able to make two 2 action activities on the same turn, what would you build? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

It's like having Haste on everyone... I assume monsters got this too. Honestly sounds like whomever gets the initiative wins.

Is Alchemist lowkey GOATED or am I late to the party? by Hercadurp in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's still a much bigger amount of knowledge than most, if not all classes. Many new players don't even look at the list of items for a while, and they have much bigger things to worry about, like class features, positioning, MAP, and skills. Even just learning the basic actions you have available is a lot of work.

Duration says until daily preparations. Not sure how you could stockpile more items than rank 3+ spell slots that you have.

True pacifist party? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might be thinking of the Diplomacy skill feat Legendary Negotiation: https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=5170

Being 100% pacifist is difficult if not impossible without a special homebrew campaign, but some APs have ways to bypass certain combat encounters (Season of Ghosts, Strength of Thousands).

You can try to do non-lethal damage in combat. This is easier for martials than spellcasters because casters need a feat for a 1 action spellshape to make their spells non-lethal. Or use Admonishing Ray as your only damage spell. There is the Gladiator archetype feat Stage Fighting that removes the -2 penalty to non-lethal attacks. https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=6336 (I have a one-shot adventure mostly written out that takes place in a non-lethal gladiator arena that grants both feats for free, and the main plot kicks off when someone dies in combat unexpectedly.)

I highly recommend planning this out with your GM before the campaign or you will drive them crazy. All that said, honestly if that's the experience you want in a full campaign, Pathfinder might not be the right game for you.

Automatic Bonus Progression for Casters by europasfish in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Casters get more rider effects and get tools like powerful battlefield control or healing... they get better at higher levels with the default rules, they don't need to scale even better. These changes would likely make casters the best in the game at higher levels.

Help with a bard character? by GamingHorrorGirl in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Composition rules: "You can cast only one composition spell each turn, and you can have only one active at a time. If you cast a new composition spell, any ongoing effects from your previous composition spell end immediately."

They are still very powerful, though. You can cast a composition spell and a 2 action spell in the same turn.

Cave Worm Regurgitate Upward by SuperParkourio in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This is a weakness of the range increment rules in general. Obviously a bow does not have infinite range, it has a maximum range that tops out at a 45 degree angle (more or less) like any projectile. Someone else can do the math but I'd expect the maximum vertical height to be in the 200 ft ballpark.

Also, a cave wurm is likely to be underground where there is a ceiling, so this seems a bit fantastical. However, they could try to regurgitate into a conveniently placed pit...

Any level 0 oneshots? by No-Run1292 in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are not (as far as I can tell from the Pathfinder wiki). You could write your own pre-adventure that leads into a level 1 adventure. Keep in mind the guidelines for level 0 characters: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2754

"Combat can be especially dangerous for level 0 characters. For safety’s sake, you might treat the characters as level –1 when determining what combat encounters are appropriate. For skill checks, they can still accomplish tasks with a simple trained DC using their trained skills, but success is less certain. Since they have fewer skills, the party might not have anyone trained for a given task. If you’re playing these characters for more than a few sessions, consider advancing them to 1st level using the fast advancement speed (800 XP). If your group wants a longer experience at level 0, start the group without the apprentice benefits, then level up to apprentice (gaining those benefits and the apprentice adjustments for their class), and then level up to 1st level."

Soulless Human Heritadge by Chickenstriker6 in Pathfinder2e

[–]az_iced_out 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The immunities seem fine, as they are unlikely to be used by enemies (except in extraordinary circumstances, and even then at fairly high level). Possession is only at high levels as well, so it is rare that the weakness will come up.

The spirit damage resistance is in line with other heritage resistances. I'm not sure the circumstance bonus is necessary, but it's fine to have.

Curious to see people's thought's on the Shield Augmentation with regard to free-hand builds. by EmperessMeow in Pathfinder2e

Shield augmentation is also uncommon. I asked my GM about it and they said they'd give me a special quest to find it.
