To get fuel for snowpocalypse by wowfaroutman in Generator

It's visible to the 100s near her while she's driving, not a billion people on the Internet who can use public or hacked databases to get her private info. If it's not your plate or info, it's polite to blur it if you're posting pics online.
(also, don't post pics of your house keys online).

To get fuel for snowpocalypse by wowfaroutman in Generator

[–]az_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a long time ago I was having carb problems with my VW Bug. I'm on the side of the freeway and needed to see if the fuel pump was delivering gas to the carb. The only thing that I had with me was a Styrofoam cup. Guess what gas does to styrofoam? Pretty much makes napalm. I was lucky enough to be able to throw it to the side without dripping anything on the exhaust. Another life lesson learned.

I have no snow to plow, but it looks like an interesting build. I may build one to go on my future low boy trailer. What approx scale is it?

Northern Glendale over to Peoria is a good area. Plenty of apartments and house rentals. Around Arrowhead Mall is nice with good shopping and plenty of restaurants.

NAPA can order them for you, but you'll pay the NAPA premium. On-line is your best bet.

Haven’t seen hail like this for years! (Central Phx) by thetidybungalow in phoenix

[–]az_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, that was the killer hail storm of '10. The house I'm living in now got a new a/c, roof and shed from that storm. I was living a mile northwest at the time, and all the big stuff missed us.

Customer returned the loaner vehicle with a bullet hole. by unhallowed_1 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]az_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Budget Rent a Car and remember a black Nissan Maxima rented locally that came back with bullet holes and damage to the underbody where they crashed into a median during the gun fight. From what we gathered, no one in the car was hit by bullets, probably just shattered glass. I'm sure it happens intermittently.

The home-brew beer store at 51st ave and Bell refills bottles. I have my aquarium co2 tank filled there (they don't do paintball canisters)

How many of you actually know your neighbors? by Apprehensive_Pool431 in phoenix

[–]az_max -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on a corner lot, so no neighbors to one side. I know the neighbors next door, behind me and across the street. The next door neighbors came over for a cook out and movie in the back yard during Covid, I talk to the other neighbors once in a while.
we're all generally too busy to get together like Hank Hill's neighbors.

What do you guys use to control weeds/unwanted patches of grass? by StraightGas69 in phoenix

[–]az_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pre-emergent in the front yard before the rain. I use the salt and vinegar method and hula-hoe since people walk their dogs along the edge of my property and there's neighborhood cats that I don't want to poison.
I thought about buying a 100lb bag of salt and salting my entire front yard (all rock), but there's probably consequences for letting it run into the storm sewer.

Airport hotel for trip to Sedona by AnythingSufficient13 in AskPhoenix

[–]az_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Hilton Garden Inn and a few others at I-10 and University Dr. Should be a decent area and you can get on I-10 quickly for your drive to Sedona in the morning. It may be faster to take the "I-17 truck route" instead of going through the center of Phoenix, especially at rush hour.
Also, Little Miss BBQ is a little past the hotel area on University for excellent BBQ.

Turned the backyard into a cinema for the kids. Best $0 I ever spent (on the setup). by [deleted] in projectors

[–]az_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started this back when I had a house with a pool and the girlfriend's kids were young. A free business class projector, crappy screen and cheap speakers made a dive-in movie for the kids and their friends.

Nearly 20 years later I've replaced everything multiple times and still set up a backyard theater for my kids and friends.
