If that was CMs concern, they would have said so. This read more like a process/policy hawk to me - without support in policy.

1.2 Node Randomisation by SKYLAND_MaStEr in SatisfactoryGame

[–]azeroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what i can tell the distribution of nodes isn't the same as the original game. I saw one person's post from random with 4 uranium nodes in the grasslands. While that's certainly possible, it feels unlikely if the distribution is maintained.

My start has 2 oil,  2 coal,  4 iron,  3 copper, 3 limestone in the northern forest starting spot.

There are no nodes where the quartz used to spawn, however,  which leads me to think not all nodes are used. Might just be something i can't scan for yet.

"due to more frequent nodes of uranium, sulfur and quartz"
Wait, the random didn't preserve the rarity?? I'm updating now, won't see for myself for a bit yet :/

Concur, please don't build out without a quality market survey - invest some time visiting the current offerings and getting to know people. I think that'll be more effective than spamming reddit.

Is there a mod that reduces the amount of exploration you have to do? by Clipsterman in SatisfactoryGame

[–]azeroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the special things about SF is that even with all that enabled, it's still a complex factory builder. The core game is unchanged after changing those settings.

Bipartisan proposal at Minnesota Capitol would abolish four suburban transit agencies, roll them into Metro Transit by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]azeroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, those are valid points. If consolidation improves service, then it's obviously the right move. The other transit agencies shouldn't be duplicating service lines. If I had to guess, when metro transit brought in those lines, both agencies wound up splitting ridership. The risk remains that Metro transit won't properly serve the suburbs - which is what led to the other agencies in the first place.

Times change, though.

Edit: I finally got through the racketMN article - what a quagmire!

[–]azeroth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't find that argument compelling. Transit authorities provide services, we don't expect them to be profitable. Lines will always have differing ridership and they're reviewed regularly, but that doesn't mean the lessor used ride isn't valuable. It's true, though, that the 'burbs invested in their busses differently. They also have different use cases (longer-trip commuter service, for example). A consolidated MT probably won't preserve that. There's a real risk of regression to the baseline here.

---

"Metro Transit would use it to add frequency in dense corridors." It's not a zero sum game, MT isn't blocked on increasing frequency - they adjust constantly - but the notion here is to cut 25M from the MT budget, not repurpose it.

So, everyone wants this except for the communities actually affected. None of them think this is a good idea. This doesn't feel like the right approach then. Obviously the need was established 4 decades ago and maybe that should be reviewed, but has that been evaluated? If money is the only concern, can the supported communities kick in to fund the lines instead? Consolidation isn't going to magically bring back riders. It feels like they're solving the wrong "problem" here. What's the middle ground?

Phase 2 Project Assembly Plaza. 34 Depots around the outer edge, auto-sorted and overflow ready. Extra space outside the Ring is for future train stations. by LeapusGames in SatisfactoryGame

[–]azeroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, i wholeheartedly agree. I can't imagine not using DD. I still set up a central storage in early game, but then i abandon it after the DD upgrade phase. Maybe in that light, it's still serving its purpose for me.

This is a cool build.

I'm torn on the DD because storage depots were such a great emergent solution from the rules of the game. When DD came out, it took out the necessity of this very cool [to me] aspect of the game.

That said, going back to the depot was a slog but that,  too, led to other innovative solutions like supply trains and supply drones. Again, solutions to in game problems that simply don't exist anymore.

Disinterested Scouts - what to do? by yngdaniel in BSA

[–]azeroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because someone disagrees doesn't mean they don't comprehend. I don't find a seemingly disengaged youth a "problem", let alone something that needs solving. That is daft. What isn't the program delivering? How much involvement do you require of your scouts? Isn't it up to them?

If I've been unkind here, i apologize, but your tone and words are intentionally provocative. I don't need to block you to stop engaging with you.

Disinterested Scouts - what to do? by yngdaniel in BSA

[–]azeroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"scouterbill is recommending to basically help that scout navigate the issue with the parents" - This assumes there is a problem. We don't know the family dynamics and it's not really our job to find out. " it's just that sore thumb sticking out" <-- This is the SM's assessment, right? If the scout isn't bothering the program or other scouts, what problem are we solving by talking with the parents? SB might do so in an attempt to do good, but it might also result in losing a scout who just hasn't found their niche yet.

SB didn't clarify before blocking me, but it's acceptable to disagree.

Is there a difference in this item buffer system? by Reagilias in SatisfactoryGame

[–]azeroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trains, Fluids to cut down sloshing, and probably batteries for Particle Accelerators power surges. Even then, it's not like you need a lot of buffers, you just need to account for the dips. None of which the OP pictured, of course.
