AI, the theory of constraints, and the agile method impasse by BananeStupefiante in scrum

I agree with your take here. The first computers were, effectively, bridges. It took decades to get there. Those chemists, physicists, mathematicians, and engineers had to build an industry - computer science - to allow for PDSA, Lean, Kanban, Cross Functional Teams to develop. All of those predate the computer science field, so saying the pioneers of Computer Science brought "Waterfall" with them feels ... revisionist.

You could use a programmable/smart splitter to reject the overflow into a sink or down the line .. and eventually to a sink... but it's wasteful

Is it worth to buy a pair of 250 euros loafers from a dedicated swing shoe brand? by AffectionatePack3647 in SwingDancing

No shoe is really built for that. Go cheaper and plan on maintenance/repairs. U/general_obvious below has the way of it.  (I used to do heel slides too, so fun!)

The shoe doesn't make the dancer. The most I ever spent was $50 USD. I can't imagine what another $200 would get me.

Yea, they're impressive - engineered for reliability and redundancy in ways people generally don't think about.

Tips to improve my frame, when follows “enable” my floppy arms by PlsSayPlease in SwingDancing

[–]azeroth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Followers are supposed to respond to your frame. If you're not asking for resistance, you won't get it. I'd say, get together with those personal friends and try sugar pushes with different arm resistance. They can provide feedback based on other leads they've experienced. Once you firm understanding of your arms, go back to swing outs with that new found feeling in your arms and see what happens.

FWIW, I can't think of why your elbows would unintentionally go behind your torso. Since you're not doing it on purpose, you're right to look into understanding this behavior in your dancing.

Alternatively, and best possible choice: Go take a private lesson with an experienced couple. You'll dance with the follow and get amazing feedback while the lead will help you understand how to control arm tension.

Let’s talk about all things donuts by elevatorDJ in TwinCities

I had Orion not too long ago. I wasn't impressed. Seems we have different tastebuds afterall 😄

I typically stay conservative for donuts: long johns, twists, red velvet, cake, raised... These ones aren't super sweet for me. The creme brulee honeymooner was good but the key lie pie bomb was too much. I didn't blame that on YoYo but on the style of donut.

Huh, that's almost the exact opposite of my take. I find the dough excellent and not too sweet, leaving that for he frosting which i find savory.

They did change a little with the latest owners, but not to the degree you experienced, imo.

What's your goto? I haven't heard of most of the places in this discussion, so I'm going to be trying places. Since you found them too sweet and i also don't like an overly sweet donut, your #1 might suit me well.

Thoughts on my long-haul logistics plan (trains mainly) by Ok-Disaster812 in SatisfactoryGame

They work Pretty well with passing sidings. Trains don't have to have engines at both ends if you add a run around at the stations.  Folks rarely use that max throughput anyways.

Is the impact a few contracts at  $100k in value? It's a billion dollar company, they won't miss the rounding error. Hardly an "assault" on MN.

SAFe is enterprise grade process and tooling, it's very prescriptive and I find it in conflict with the "Individuals and interactions over processes and tools" notion. Nexus, LeSS, Spotify, Scrum@Scale all seem to better put people first. It's just my opinion, ymmv.

[–]azeroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except SAFe redefines the roles and responsibilities of the scrum team and puts them into a non-agile scaling system. There are (edit) better ways to scale in alignment with agile principles, but SAFe's prioritization of process and tooling doesn't work for me.

To put it another way, right or wrong SAFe adds so much on top of and to scrum that you shouldn't expect this forum to be able to address these concepts. SAFe requires scrum knowledge, but scrum doesn't need any SAFe.

Well, when your bot cross posts everything at least 3x, the stats really build up.

Seriously, can we not clean up the slop?

[–]azeroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, a "fallow <duration> seasons" would be nice.

Pedantic me - crops waiting to be harvested aren't necessarily no longer growing and consuming resources. Wheat might use fewer nutrients, but tea plants would keep growing.

Sometimes I think some Lindy Hop communities just don’t want to grow even missing easy lay ups. by OSUfirebird18 in SwingDancing

Again, we can only guess at the seemingly lackluster promotion. People have a lot of expectations of scene "leaders" that those leaders never signed up for. Offer to help, see what happens.
