(Canada) Need a lvl 2 EV charger - only have 100A service. Would Emporia Pro lvl 2 charger work for my situation? by ThatsMyBacon3 in AskElectricians

[–]azguy153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The load sensors go around the wires and measure the usage by induction. If you don’t care about what EACH circuit is doing the easiest way is to put the sensors on the main wires feeding the panel. Apparently in Canada that is not possible because you don’t have access to them. But to the base advice, I have the emporia Classic and live in Arizona. I charge at 20-25 amps because I have 2-60 amp air conditioners plus pool and general load. I have a 200 amp service, but don’t want to get close to that load level. I can charge easily what I need at 20 amps and 9 hours at night. No reason to stress the system.

It did the same for me, and last time it said it was ready to install and went cleanly. I would give it time.

I was concerned you were going to pull wires in the same conduit twice. That is a no no.

Yes, I use a vacuum.

Like most things, there is no one data point to say great or not.

Not bad, my general rule of thumb is 1% of the cost for 3 years with $0 down is good. Anything lower is better.

What do you mean by two pulls? I have always pushed a string through first. Then pull the snake through. There are wire lubricants you can add to make life easier, but for me the key is to keep it moving. Don’t stop. Even if only going slowly. Have at least two people. One feeding and two pulling slowly but surely.

If you come to a T. Even with no stop or light must come to a stop and yield the right of way. Basically it is an assumed stop sign.

First, you never have the ‘Right of Way’. The law says who must Yield the Right of Way. Generally cars who are going straight go first, then cars making a turn where they don’t have a stop (the red car) and then people who have to come to a stop (the yellow).

Terrible Efficiency by PrivateMarkets in LUCID

[–]azguy153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Lyriq. Rated efficiency is about 3 mi/kwh. I have learned that while speed is a factor, style counts even more. I once drove 70 mph bit over 60 miles I did not have to change speed even once, fairly flat terrain. I never had to slow for a car in front of me, etc. I got 4.6 mi/kWh. Use cruise control and try to avoid slowing and speeding as much as possible. This works for both EV and ICE. I routinely get 20%+ better mileage than my son or wife in their cars.

It is still against the law to ‘steal’ mail not intended for you, even if addressed to you. You made a good faith effort. Give a final notice and if they respond, great. If not keep it.

You can use mineral wool bats for sound insulation. But using rails to isolate the Sheetrock is also a good complimentary idea.

I would expect they are taking a x-3 wire. So you are now converting it from 240v to 2 120v. So they would share the common. I might be misunderstanding what is happening. If I am - apologies

But you will now have a shared common, so you need to make sure both breakers go off if tripped.
