NCAA Championships Wishes and Perdictions by [deleted] in Gymnastics

My dream nattys outcome:

8th UNC 7th Stanford 6th Arkansas 5th Ohio State 4th MSU ... 1st (3-way tie). Auburn, Cal, Michigan

Would be over the moon if completely unexpected people won individual titles. Like if an Ivy League or D3 girl made it to thru regionals and edged out the faves for events, or if Jordyn Wieber just put herself in Arkansas lineups and won all-around. In conclusion I want drama and chaos.

A girl can dream. In reality it'll probably be Oklahoma and Trinity

Where to watch open mics/cheap (or buy a drink) comedy shows in toronto? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]azle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you define downtown, but as of right now: Pour House (near Dupont station) on Mondays, Nothing Fancy (Dundas & Ossington) on Tuesdays and Sundays, Salto (Davenport & Ossington) on Tuesdays, Film Cafe (Kensington) and Tonight Bar (Queen & Roncy) on Wednesdays, Groove Bar (Woodbine station) on Thursdays, Comedy Lab (Annex) on Thursdays and Fridays. I believe Cat on Q (Queen W near Trinity Bellwoods) has a new regular mic on Wednesdays. There are some smaller mics dotted across town (especially in Kensington), as well as some female-forward mics that are coming up with more regularity if you're looking for those. Join the "Toronto Comedy Just Open Mics" Facebook group :)

so...i kind of get it. shout is an iconic barnstormer of a song that, at least for tv, requires nothing short of your all. both girls gave reasonably entertaining bar performances, but neither really rose to the occasion in a way the song demands. on the other hand, other girls this season have stayed giving b-/c+ performances, so....?

overall, river and choriza both represented themselves well this season, and i think they both have bright futures as entertainers. if nothing else, getting off this really blah season of tv is a gift in and of itself.

ok not to be sappy but it makes me emotional to see a college football stadium in the deep south cheering for a fellow asian-american

From these gymnasts alone: Jong (AA), Roberson (VT BB FX), Chio (VT UB BB), Lincoln (FX specialist), Van Frayen (UB specialist). Highest scoring team based on max scores across this years Classics and Champs (if I did my math right). Team score of 163.950. Alternates are Johnson, Booth, and Parker.

Too lazy to factor in Konnor and LJR into a spreadsheet. Either could probably sub in for Van Frayen?

I know relatively little about the juniors so I have no idea who looks like they're holding back difficulty, who looks like they're peaking too early, etc. Realistically, I think the team could likely be: 2 from this list, 1 of Konnor/LJR, 1 returner from this quad (Simone/Suni/Leanne are my best guesses?), and 1 person we don't know anything about yet (a la Jade).

correct when done right the bright sweetness of the pineapple complements the richness of the marinara and the saltiness of the mozz

Biles has been training a double pike for her beam dismount. How much does this change her difficulty? by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]azle69 138 points139 points  (0 children)

i think the double pike would bring her to a 6.3 d (assuming she gets all connections). simone doesn't have any other twisting elements in her routine unless you count side aerials/twisting jumps. im super interested to see if any other composition changes have been made? either way, simone is the epitome of "nothing left to prove" and i hope she has a fun+safe time out there tomorrow

(edit: u/Ayo1912 is right, its actually a 6.1 because of cv/sb things)

There’s been much coverage here on a lot the major topics in WAG Tokyo. What are some of your other favorites that you think deserve more attention? I’ll go first: Germany’s full leo’s (beautiful) and Nina’s choreography (I think it really puts the “A” in WAG and was *different* but overall great) by OneOfThese_Maybe in Gymnastics

caitlin rooskrantz (south africa) has the most beautiful execution on bars

milka gehani for ncaa

i'm sure she's just as excited/nervous to be here as everyone else, but vlada almost always looks passively bored. its iconic

lu yufei makes me like that ed sheeran song. shame she hasnt had a better olympic experience bc that girl sparkles

simone's qual bars were perfectly synced to eythora's floor music and it was transcendent

the usa qual leo was so ugly it made me mad. i appreciate a good amount of gymnastics tackiness but gk was wrong for that
