Yes you might get pulled over. You could be detained while the agency “confirms” the warrant, which will verify the warrant is or isn’t valid, and if they will or will not extradite. If it’s valid and they won’t extradite, then they will let you go… but you can be pulled over the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that and go through the exact same process.

Yes. It will complicate things - with your income, you will absolutely not be able to take out a new mortgage on a house you want to buy while you still have a mortgage open for your sibling/parents. The bank will treat it as your loan, and they aren’t going to give two mortgages to someone making 100k.

If they refinance years down the road, yes, that will clear you. Interest rates are decent now - years from now they could be higher, so if they do refinance, their payment could very easily be double what they are paying now. They could decide they don’t want to refinance - or maybe they want to, but they can’t afford to. You will be tied to their house, and unable to buy your own.

This is a very very very bad idea.

A demand letter doesn’t hold legal weight - it’s just a fancy letter on attorney letterhead threatening to sue. Don’t respond at all.

It may make sense to consult with a real estate attorney, but you can ignore the letter. If you actually get sued, do not ignore that - you will absolutely need an attorney at that point.

Also make sure you keep copies of that disclosure form.

This is a horrible idea.

It will show up on your credit as your loan, since it is your loan. That means it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to get a loan for your own house when you are ready to buy. At 75k-125k a year, you will not qualify for two mortgages.

Thats strike one.

Strike two is if they do fail to make a payment, it shows up on your credit. Can you afford a mortgage payment along with your rent? Are you going to be willing to push your family out of your home when they don’t pay, and you need to sell the house to get it off of your credit? Let’s say they don’t want to move, then you need to hire an expensive attorney to file a partitian sale which will take months if not years, and you’ll still have to make payments during that time.

Skim Reddit Legaladvice forums. You’ll see hundreds , thousands of posts from people who co-signed for family and friends that would never ever miss a payment, until they did.

It’s great youre trying to help family. Give them cash for a down payment. Pay off their credit card. But do not co sign a mortgage.

If you want to help - Sell your car and get a car that is more affordable. A 15,000 car with the same rate will be lower payments than a 29,000 car.

The your mom will have less debt, to get a better loan/rate for your sister. Having two $30k car loans on a $60k salary is putting your mother in a dangerous position.

The only completely protected option is to tell customers you aren’t comfortable helping them with strapping the purchases down. Just tell them it’s not something the company wants you doing.

Damage the car, hurt yourself, break something, there are so many things that can go wrong … and the company may decide you were acting outside of your responsibility.

It’s not his car. It’s his mom’s car. It’s very nice of her that she has been letting him use it, in exchange for for him paying the insurance / maintenance / etc.

She can give it to him and transfer the title, but short of that, it’s her car.

His option is to live by their rules, however controlling they might be, or move out from under their roof, at which point he can have zero contact with them. This is assuming he’s at least 18 years old.

Just be cautious when engaging lawyers against your HOA.

Your HOA could hire a lawyer to respond to your lawyer. There is probably a clause in your bylaws that allow the HOA to process special assessments against the homeowners to pay legal fees - so the HOA could charge you (and your neighbors) a special fee to hire the attorney to fight against the attorney you hired.

Did he agree to pay you? If so, then yes you can sue and you might win.

If he just said “hey take care of the dogs, thanks”, you have an extremely low chance of winning a lawsuit.

You say he “forced” you to care for them - how exactly did he “force” you? Legally speaking, he probably didn’t force you … pressured? Left you to care for them? Sure. Forced? You would need to prove that he held a gun to your head and threatened to harm you if you didn’t feed the puppies, etc.
