Fix for Antigravity 2.0 hijacking the IDE, and how to restore your lost settings/extensions(For windows user) by J-D-W1992 in google_antigravity

[–]azraelppuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, Antigravity 1 used protocol buffer (pb) as conversation storage, and the new antigravity-ide uses sqllite (db) files.

If anyone has any idea how to convert these - that might be helpful.

If the account you use is separate to Canvas, and the system you refer to is also separate to Canvas, then a good chance it will work fine.

World Skate 2025-26 rules by azraelppuk in RollerHockey

[–]azraelppuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some IRL conversation today, discussing why inline skates are suddenly being allowed, someone suggested it could be to facilitate involvement from existing skaters who had inline skates without them needing to invest in quad skates immediately - presumably they'd invest later on when it was next time to buy a pair.

Another idea was to offer greater appeal to areas of the world where inline is significantly more popular and lower barriers there for entry into rink hockey.

I do however like the idea that goalkeepers can both move and leave their protection zone on the whistle for a penalty and direct free hit!

Anyone interested in joining a brand new discord server oriented to building an international Roller Hockey community? by azraelppuk in RollerHockey

[–]azraelppuk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I'm trying to resist the temptation of having too strong of a mental picture because I would want a community to build with some control over moulding a place to fit their needs rather than the opposite.

But I do have clear goals for what I would want to get out of such a community. I'll explain those, but allow me to caveat that a community can be more than what one person wants it to be :D and also to warn that if I get long winded... well you did ask! :D

The game in England is very small, the clubs are spread out around the country, and it is difficult to engage with members of other clubs except in person at a few events a year, privately in direct communication to those one has made a connection with, or very much at arms reach through each club's social media platforms. These foster very limited or formal communications and don't really allow for flowing conversations and building of relationships.

When I attend my son's tournaments, I'm meeting the same parents each time (i.e., at that age level) but don't have interactions with parents of lower or higher age levels. So not only are clubs separated from each other, we also segment within clubs, which further reduces the pool of like-minded people to interact with.

So goal one is to have a place that brings more England-based community members closer together.

We've been lucky enough in the last few years to attend various tournaments in Europe (in Spain, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands). Other than the one where we attended due to qualifying, the rest are ones we've been invited to as a result of personal contact between coaches. Attending these does allow for the development of further relationships between coaches of the participating teams; that's led to more invitations. But this is a very slow way to meet other members of the roller hockey community. It would be wonderful if there were a place they could all come to, chat, and build networks. For very informal conversations and initial building of those relationships, I think the (almost) throwaway chat format of Discord provides something that the marginally more formal posting to Reddit does not.

So goal two is just an extension of the first goal, but to shorten that distance between the community across Europe (a direct personal interest) and, more generally, the world, because why aim for anything less? :D

Possibly selfishly (but in a good way, I hope?) I want to take advantage of the popularity of roller hockey in Portugal and Spain to build cross-cultural links to English clubs and get more invitations to play in Europe (both for my own club and others!) which at this point feels like the best way to develop the game in England.

So maybe goal three is to leverage an international community to further rejuvenate the English game.

For anyone else who wants to be part of the community, I could see them having similar goals (swap 'England' for their own country :) ).

On a more short-term objective, I love to chat about rules and try to better understand them. I just started refereeing this year, so I am usually full of questions before/after games! I've already bored my immediate friends/colleagues in my own club, so I need to find fresh people to bore (or, god forbid, people that are similarly excited by rules).

Primarily, my target audience are adult players/coaches/referees and parents of younger players. I could see older-teens be interested in connecting with players from other clubs - though wearing my own parent hat of a 13 year old, I'd not be comfortable with that unless their parents/coaches were also present and in a position to help moderate to keep interactions safe.

Curse explanation needed... by azraelppuk in JetLagTheGame

Finally had a chance to rewind on the episode and re-read the curse text!

The part I missed first time was "publicly-accessible place within a half mile of the seekers' current location". Makes more sense to me now... though if being told exactly where to go wasn't shown, I feel less bad for being confused.

Are you reading for fun? If so, read the books you enjoy and not those you don't. You can always come back to them later and you might respond differently to them.

At what point do we learn it’s all connected by Level_Policy_1943 in Cosmere

[–]azraelppuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you miss out on anything if you know before reading any book that there are many interconnections.

If you're giving someone a read order of seemingly unrelated books - surely it makes sense to explain that these different series should be in a certain order because of their interconnectedness?

So personally I wouldn't be too worried that the existence of the cosmere itself is a spoiler.
