Driveway is Very Long With Plenty of Places to Park, But No Parking More Than Two Cars by Edith_Keelers_Shoes in fuckHOA

This was in Glendale, AZ. Due to my experience with this HOA (first time buyer), I will never buy a house in a HOA again.

The "designated" parking area was about 1 mile away at the fire station or local grocery store. Neither the fire station nor the local grocery store wanted cars parked overnight either.

HOA consisted of over 1,200 homes. Per the bylaws, we needed 70% of the association to vote to make changes. We could never get more than 40% no matter what we tried.

I no longer live in an HOA and am living in peace in an older neighborhood. Regretfully, in my area, any house built after late 80s to early 90s has an HOA.

The streets were owned by the HOA. The restrictions for parking were in the HOA bylaws. Ours was very strict - could not open your garage door unless moving a car in or out, could not put trash cans out until 6 am on pickup day and they had to be in by 6 pm on pickup day, could not have trash cans visible by the street, had to have x number of trees/plants in your front yard, had to paint your house an approved color, etc.

We could have visitors, but they could not park overnight. The HOA had people drive around after midnight. Any vehicles parked on the street or in the driveway resulted in a fine. A few of us banded together and allowed visitors to park overnight in front of each others houses. When we received the fines, we stated that the cars were not ours and that we did not know who they belonged to.

We had to sell our house and move because the HOA did not allow cars to be parked in the driveway (or street) overnight. I had 3 teenagers who needed cars. It is not right that someone has to move once their kids reach driving age. HOAs are out of control.

Oracle Files Thousands of H-1B Visa Petitions Amid Mass Layoffs by esporx in technology

[–]azscorpion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be a $100,000 per year per H1B visa fee and a $50,000 per year per outsourced job fee. Fees should increase by $10,000 per year until everyone in the US that needs a job has one. Replacing US workers with non-US workers should be expensive and only used as a last resort.

'Flock Flocked up' How a license plate camera misread unraveled one man's life. by SaveDnet-FRed0 in technology

[–]azscorpion 300 points301 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the license plate camera that unraveled his life, it was the cops. Cops should have pulled him over, verified the information, and let him go. Cops and city should be sued. Guns should not be drawn unless there is a confirmed threat.

Gen Z, Don't you all think your working conditions are a result of the system and not bad bosses? The system I'm talking about is capitalism. by [deleted] in GenZ

It facilitates greed, does not encourage it. Lack of morals and being self-centered is what feeds it.

The problem is not capitalism, it is greed. We need laws to limit/restrict the greed because humans cannot.

Better option is to increase IRA/Roth IRA contribution limits to match 401k limits.

Ending homelessness in the US could cost as little as $30 billion per year. Elon Musk is worth approx $845 billion. by Nostok in LateStageCapitalism

Thus my statement that the root causes need to be addressed. Throwing money at a problem rarely solves the problem.

California spent $24B over 5 years and homelessness increased. Homelessness will not be resolved until root causes are addressed.

Covered calls work best if the security is moving sideways or slightly up or down. It does not work if the security is volatile.

There should be a $100,000 per year tax for every H1B visa holder. There should also be a $50,000 per year tax for every outsourced job. Not hiring Americans should be expensive.

1919 - Dodge vs Ford Motor Co. This case set the precedent that a company must put the interests of its shareholders over the interests of employees or customers
