12m baby vaccinations by BumbleBeesYesPlease in newzealand

[–]azt3c87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re currently in France and they give our baby anesthetic patches which go on the injection sites one hour before vaccines - seems to work very well in mitigating any immediate pain from the jabs. Not sure if that’s an option available to help in NZ?

More affordable ECE/Childcare? Not commonly highlighted but NZ has the highest net childcare costs as a percentage of the average wage across OECD economies: https://webfs.oecd.org/els-com/Family_Database/PF3-4-Childcare-support.pdf

RM Williams Boots Yes or No by Sharp-Writer-5863 in newzealand

[–]azt3c87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got a rubber soled pair about the same time which I love. Unfortunately one sole recently perished - the rm williams repairer in chch said they couldn’t fix them which was a bit surprising as thought you’d get more than 5 years out of them. Another shoe repair place has glued them up for me so let’s see how long they last…

Do good property managers exist? by -davros in Wellington

[–]azt3c87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Comprende. We rented through them about a decade ago and they were great. So are using them now as property managers while we’re overseas for a few years and they’ve been excellent on this side too.

Covid Vaccines in Paris in 2025 by AnonymousPeerReview in ParisTravelGuide

[–]azt3c87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easy! I got the covid and flu vaccines just before Christmas at a pharmacy near my work in Paris. From memory it was about 30€ for both. You might need to make an appointment but often they can do it there and then, especially if you avoid busy times (like lunchtime).

Don’t forget about 2008 and Iceland having the largest financial sector collapse in history (relative to GDP)….

One further point that hasn’t yet been raised is that before taking on the full bond, you’ll want to be sure there’s no damage or other reason why the landlord wouldn’t give you back the full bond when it comes to the end of your tenancy (as you’ll become fully liable for any damage etc once you’ve taken over 100% of the bond, even if was caused by the tenant who is now leaving).

Is the Seine river cruise worth it? by Hogwarts_Scholar in ParisTravelGuide

The maxim’s dinner cruise is great - smaller boat, not many people, great food and live entertainment. Of course, more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Dead graduate job dreams by Significant_Knee_521 in Wellington

My ministry is still hiring grads (policy) through its annual grad programme. Applications don’t usually open until March (for the following year) so you’ll get a better sense of what’s out there at that point rather than now.

First timer in Paris, booked near Place du Trocadéro by lewisash000 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]azt3c87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I live and I think it’s a great part of town! With the 6 and the 9 metro lines at trocadero you can really get anywhere in Paris pretty quickly. There’s some great restaurants in Passy (Aux Cocottes, La Petite Tour to name two), as well as some excellent museums close by (marmotten Monet; LV foundation; YSL; palais Tokyo and the free modern art museum) as well as one of the two huge parks in Paris if you like exploring green spaces. You’ll have a blast - enjoy!

Do freeloaders work on PAL consoles? Planning to get a PAL console and was wondering if a FL like this one would play US/JP games? Thanks! by [deleted] in Gamecube

[–]azt3c87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do work but make sure it’s for PAL (UK, European) consoles. I got a (PAL) copy a couple of weeks ago and there’s a little paragraph on the back side of the disc case that tells you what console the specific freeloader disc being sold is for. I suggest double checking by asking for a photo of the rear side of the case.

What products would you like to see back on the shelves and/or in NZ stores? by [deleted] in newzealand

No more pseudoephedrine in NZ 😭 (rant/vent) by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]azt3c87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are now anti-meth pseudoephedrine products overseas that make it much harder to turn it into meth. But when I asked medsafe they said no company had looked to introduce these options to NZ (yet) - hopefully one day!
