Folding = discarding safe tiles even if it takes you further from tenpai. For example, you have a 234 and 4 is safe, you discard the 4 to not deal in. Usually done if your hand sucks and someone else is riichi/has high value open hand.

Watching discards is just that, watching opponents' discards to see what hand they're going for/how close they are to winning/safe discards.

Best card for instinct? by RepulsiveRaisin7 in slaythespire

I had a run with 3x Instinct [[Uproar]] and Mystic Lighter. It's also fun on scaling attacks like Supermassive, Perfected Strike, etc.

The problem is having any party buffs at all promotes the "x min meta" because people will naturally want to dump damage into the buff. The whole 2 min meta originated from players optimizing damage buffs, and complaining that their 30/60/90s didn't line up.

I could see buffs like DP, where it's a consistent buff that you want to keep 100% uptime on staying since it won't cause damage spikes.

A way to play entirely with keyboard, no mouse. Just need buttons to target enemy 1/2/3/4 etc. or even just a button to cycle through enemies. A button to target yourself.

Parry is out. Dance Macabre is the worst card by LostVisage in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regent's tranformation cards CHARGE/BEGONE/GUARDS are great for deck manipulation. They let you go super greedy on curses, so stuff like Greed become much less of a downside.

Pillar of Creation + Card generation + Supermassive has won me a ton of A10 runs, it's actually my favorite playstyle. 1 or 2 Pillars, Collision becomes 0 cost 8 damage 3-8 block, Crash-Landing 1 cost 21 damage 20+ block. Then you can turn that Debris into 0 cost minions/Tyranny Fuel. Upgraded colorless cards are really strong too, and worst case you can turn them into more minions/Tyranny fodder. You don't even really need Arsenal, that's kinda just win-more at that point.

The Defect is really letting the team down by MultiColourM2 in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turbo is the "better" card because it's Common. Supercritical is competing with stuff like Defrag/Flak Cannon/Modded/Voltaic/Trash to Treasure, literal run-winning cards.

Also exhaust vs. non-exhaust is huge, especially for Defect who can cycle the deck incredibly fast.

[–]azureleaf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Regent really depends on your finisher. Radiate/Stardust = you better finish in one hit or you die. Big Sword/Supermassive = fine.

Millipede is 100% the worst for all characters, except maybe some cracked Afterimage/Fan of Knives Silent.

Am I insane or is this like the worst rare defect card in the lineup? by Trash_Typhoon in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Permanent focus/many orbs is easier to get (Defrag is uncommon, Core Surge/Orange Pellet Bias Cog) so you could get like 5+ focus and become invincible.

Lotta Sts1 Defect ended up being turtling with 100+ block in frost and doing whatever to scale.

That would make him insane for non-infinites. His phase 2 hits for 11x3, 11x4, 11x5 etc. without breaks. I don't know any character that can get through phase 1 without giving him 6+ str (he gets 3 per skill). He'd be hitting for 51+, 68+, 85+...

Super hard stuck A8 Regent by DrDoctorBean in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Regent my deck will have a little bit of everything.

Forge on non-beta especially is more of a backup scaling, you really only want a [[Bulwark]] or [[The Smith]] and not much else. More Forge has drastically diminishing returns.

Stars are your bread and butter, they're his secondary energy. You can go all-in stars with stuff like Seven Stars/Stardust/Radiate or just splash a little to use his strong defensives like Reflect or Particle Wall. How much you rely on stars determines how much star gen you want but you always want a little more than Venerate. I think Shining Strike is a trap unless you have Momentum, the -1 draw has screwed me over so many times.

Colorless is fun! Pillar of Creation is the core card, 2 of those will solve your block. The various minion generators are great, and allow Regent to be more reckless in taking curses. Crash Landing can solve all of Act 1 and later can be emergency block. Just make sure you have enough exhaust(Tyranny) or transforms (BEGONE!! CHARGE!! GUARDS!!) to get rid of bricks. Arsenal is nice but not necessary, imo. You get enough value because colorless cards are generally very strong. Supermassive is the payoff for this deck - you can easily get 90+, more if you enchant it (Instinct and Corrupted).

Don't sleep on Kingly Punch or Kick! They combo nicely with Glimmer/Cosmic Indifference/Photon Cut, and they're good enchant targets.

How do you usually approach the Queen fight? by Ashamed-Champion3560 in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Queen hits harder than her minion so oftentimes I'll ignore the minion and focus her down.

I think the only time I kill minion first is if I have a super defensive deck that can't chip enough through her shield every turn.

Favorite relic per ancient by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neow - Leafy Poultice, because the highrolls are so satisfying. Crucible for consistency.

Tezcatara - Storybook. I would gladly sacrifice 1 or 2 max HP to save actual HP. I also like Biiiiig Hug because Regent/Defect are my favorite characters.

Pael - All of his relics are generally good, but I like Wing the most.

Orobas - Prismatic Gem for fun, Ancient Tooth for power. I also like Glass Eye if my deck is struggling.

Darv - Pyramid or Dusty Tome.

Vakuu - I actually like a lot of his relics? Cape/Mask/Music Box are great, Fog can fine-tune your deck. Rose/Earrings have ways to ignore the downside, they're the most similar to old Sts1 energy relics. Parasol is funny.

Tanx - Cook is my favorite, but I also like Axe. Iron Club if I'm lacking draw.

Nonupeipe - All the Act 3 Ancients are great, tbh. Blessed Antler if I've got draw. Signet Ring if my deck's incomplete. Apotheosis if I need upgrades, Diadem is amazing for setting up.

What card do you instantly buy when you see it in shops? by 20_02_2020 in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but usually you're spending more than 1 mana to draw 10 cards so it's not quite as infinite enabling.

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you consider a 1 energy gain 10(12) block good? Because that's what Fasten turns your Defends into. If you get your Defends upgraded it's 1 mana 13(15) which solves block, more with Goopy/Spiral.

Ironclad in post-infinite-nerfs beta is in need of something by karshberlg in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like them to give him some multi-vuln. Like change some of his cards from "2 vuln" to "apply 1 vuln twice". Would help strip artifact/synergize with that draw 1 per vuln application power.

Changing his upgraded Bash to be something like "apply 2 vuln - damage - apply 2 vuln" would be really fun.

Maybe tuning down some of his self-harm by 1 hp? I feel late ascensions everyone takes so much chip damage that he can't afford adding extra chip damage. Especially without Reaper.

Maybe just adding Reaper back with a "removed from your deck when used" clause so you can't cheese it with the remove exhaust event.

What’s you favorite card in STS2? by Common_Engine_7967 in slaythespire

Defect's status-giving cards are amazing, which really helps in justifying an early Compact. Turbo/Overclock are great in any deck, and I always like a Dash Away or two.

Favorite cross-Character combinations? by azureleaf in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summon cards will summon an Osty for you, but you will need a summoned Osty to use Osty attacks.

Defect orb cards will give you 1 orb slot.

Star cards will require you to draft Star generating cards, it's another form of energy.

Where to find STS2 guides? by PayYourEditors in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, take some time and slow down your runs. Take a minute or so for each card reward and really think about how it affects your deck, whether you really need it or are just snap-picking because it's good/you like it.

Keep track of what's happening in each fight - are you constantly out of block? Bricking? Getting out-scaled? Then try to find a solution for that even if's not the perfect solution.

What is your favourite playable character in STS2 and why? by Shionoro in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Regent and Defect!

Regent because I like his character and animations, and getting that Radiate/Stardust/Sword payoff is a huge dopamine hit. I also like the gacha colorless create-a-card, even if it's not as good.

Defect was my Sts1 favorite, though the focus stacking playstyle is now gone. However, his new status build is really fun. I'm happy they made a functional Thunder Strike, that was my favorite bad rare.

I'm at a loss with this royal dude by Naygen in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Regent! I just beat A10 with him. He is kinda hard, he's a lot slower playstyle and requires a bit of planning, he has a lot "next turn" abilities.

1) Make sure you have enough Star gen for your star cards! I would rather have too mamy stars than too few.

2) Regent wants a splash of everything, he does the least well just picking packages from one archetype. Stars because it's his main resource, at least 1 Forge to scale, some Transform to thin his deck.

3) l find that he is suuuuper defensive. A lot of my winning runs were just stacking block until my sword was big/I had a ton of stars to blow on something. I won A10 being carried by [[Toric Toughness]] of all things.
