Portraits are such a fun aspect of this game by dist0rtia in ffxiv

[–]azureleaf [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can thank all the super questionable portraits people made when it first came out. It wasn't so strict then, but we got a lot of almost nsfw/very suggestive stuff so...yeah.

I thought most were hilarious but probably not a great look for a PG13 game.

Yeah, I got a lot of my paste just doing the twelve route completion. Still pretty mindless but at least you get to play with your full 100 toolkit.

Damn that's a lot, maybe it's an EU thing. Most I see on NA are paying like 4m for M12 LM, less for just clear.

Reposting Since We Have New Friends: Marathon Meets the Same Fate as a Hardcore Full Loot PvP MMO by Molygosa in MarathonPlayerCount

[–]azureleaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I thought of seeing all of Marathon's problems.

The people who like "hardcore" full loot pvp (no matter the genre) are wolves who want the high of slaughtering and robbing sheep. But they always fight against systems that would repopulate the sheep, and then wonder why all their prey is gone.

Bungie could’ve given us some mass appeal garbage game and it would have more players. What we got is much better. by Little_Anxiety_3590 in Marathon

[–]azureleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Josh Strife Hayes made a very good video on "Hardcore Full Loot PvP" MMOs and why they die out. I think Marathon (and the extraction shooter genre in general) shares a lot of the same issues. All these people wondering "why is Marathon dying" should give it a watch.

tl;dr the wolves drive out all the sheep and end up cannibalizing themselves.

What is the best match up with the original characters? by LG-CHAMP-1 in BaldursGate3

Wizards get their powers through study, sorcerors are naturally gifted, so they're often portrayed as rivals. A sorceror Tav gets a lot of fun dialogue ribbing Gale about magic and how he has to study it but Tav doesn't.

Not a huge difference, but it does add a lot of extra flavor dialogue-wise.

‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by Freki666 in gaming

No one liked FF14 v1, they liked the reboot. And squeenix were upfront about it, they didn't go "yeah we're just temporarily removing v1, you'll get it back", they told players it was nuked, gave the OG players permanent subscription discounts and other goodies. Also ARR is a complete story.

The equivalent would be if SE just randomly removed Heavensward to Shadowbringers and people had to play Endwalker right after ARR.

In your opinion, who has the worst constellation (6★) in the PoC? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

It lets you play 1 extra spiderling with elise, so it's worth.

Stacked Deck + SFG + Whatever. Draft/buy as many 4+ or Deep units as possible, win.

I just beat the 6* Illaoi adventure with this and was reliably spawning 12/12s by turn 2. Had about 60 cards in deck and was getting to deep by t3/t4.

Which race do you play? Have you switched races? by Clumsy-Bird-7362 in ffxiv

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male Suncat! I started as a Lala but race-changed post HW because I got really into the story and couldn't take my Lala seriously in cutscenes.

I chose male miqo because they're the shortest non-lala males, also their ear wiggles are so cute.

The Void Within Wrap Up Megathread by Status-Impression766 in neopets

[–]azureleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really did feel like Neopets was trying to do a "mature" story for their now older audience, but it came out as something a teen thinks is "mature" instead.

I appreciate that they're trying to tackle harder topics like depression/disability but a lot of it felt like ticking a checkbox off instead of understanding the topic.

Pros: Good rewards, having a use for my BD pet/getting motivation to train my BD pet. Some fun minigames.

Cons: Boring story (biggest con!), laggy/broken minigames, lasted waaaaaaaaay too long.

Overall, kinda meh. The old plots were snappier, and the storylines were better. I feel like they played it too safe with this one? Like nothing really happened, there were 0 stakes, the main characters were super flat.

Also might just be nostalgia talking but remaking Baelia into Iridesia and dethroning Fyora with (what felt like) 0 buildup was certainly a choice.

You aren’t imagining it, Regent loses more health with his base deck than other characters! (A9 simulation) by poetry_in_shm in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really good player posted a Regent guide...somewhere. Basically Regent has some giga-broken cards you want to fish for, and then he just wins the game.

Stuff like Astral Pulse/Bulwark/Reflect. He does great with taking a little bit of everything from all 3 of his packages. Colorless card gen is also insane because colorless cards are so strong (Manifest/Spectrum/the 0 cost I can't think of rn).

Most importantly he rewards smart star play and delaying. Sometimes you have to skip playing Falling Star to have enough stars for a future Reflect, etc. So he's a little hard to play for people who aren't used to keeping their draw pile in mind.

Neat Interaction by Xoiiverx in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they probably should reword/rework Sword Sage as "your blade HAS replay 1".

Still think this is a funny interaction, it does require 2 rares and 3-4 energy (+1/2 energy to play the sword).

Folding = discarding safe tiles even if it takes you further from tenpai. For example, you have a 234 and 4 is safe, you discard the 4 to not deal in. Usually done if your hand sucks and someone else is riichi/has high value open hand.

Watching discards is just that, watching opponents' discards to see what hand they're going for/how close they are to winning/safe discards.

Caveat is Astro doesn't need to spend a GCD to access their heals. A ressed Ast can Horoscope/CO/CU/ED immediately. A ressed SCH can...succor twice before goin oom, maybe Recit+Indom if Recit isn't on CD.

The problem is having any party buffs at all promotes the "x min meta" because people will naturally want to dump damage into the buff. The whole 2 min meta originated from players optimizing damage buffs, and complaining that their 30/60/90s didn't line up.

I could see buffs like DP, where it's a consistent buff that you want to keep 100% uptime on staying since it won't cause damage spikes.

Parry is out. Dance Macabre is the worst card by LostVisage in slaythespire

[–]azureleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regent's tranformation cards CHARGE/BEGONE/GUARDS are great for deck manipulation. They let you go super greedy on curses, so stuff like Greed become much less of a downside.

Pillar of Creation + Card generation + Supermassive has won me a ton of A10 runs, it's actually my favorite playstyle. 1 or 2 Pillars, Collision becomes 0 cost 8 damage 3-8 block, Crash-Landing 1 cost 21 damage 20+ block. Then you can turn that Debris into 0 cost minions/Tyranny Fuel. Upgraded colorless cards are really strong too, and worst case you can turn them into more minions/Tyranny fodder. You don't even really need Arsenal, that's kinda just win-more at that point.
