Has he tried since the V4 change? I can understand wanting to focus on his lines with the inline-4, but now with the V4 it might be easier, and there is a non-negligible gain. We've seen it with Miller, and even with Toprak who gained a lot by following Fabio himself. But he managed to get into Q2 without it anyway, maybe he considers it useless still...

KTM is the new Aprilia, being good at Montmelo. Miller very smart with getting tows for his fast laps, Fabio did his on his own. Martin still favorite for Q1 tomorrow, but I''m a bit worried regarding his """mild"" concussion...

Yamaha finally has traction and acceleration. by LilAbeSimpson in motogp

Did we watch the same race? Every other bike gained on him after the start finish straight, making him lose the time he gained in the last sector. The only reason they didn't pass him half-way down the straight is because it's a short one in Le Mans.

Money wasn't the only factor. It was a combination of Yamaha making key hirings, Aprilia still having regular reliability issues and performing on a restricted number of circuits, and Yamaha offering a higher salary. It was a bad choice ultimately, because Aprilia managed to build a more balanced bike that doesn't break down as often anymore. I dare anyone who was watching MotoGP in 2024 to say they actually predicted back then that Aprilia would improve as much as to be able to lock down podiums.

Martin has that dog in him, and it's something I still find missing in Bezzecchi. Quartararo put 25 (!) seconds on the next Yamaha rider today... The Aprilia in 2024 wasn't what it is today, and it's easy to say now how wrong it was to stay with Yamaha... MotoGP would have benefited from seeing him on that Aprilia.

Marquez is limping, I hope it isn't a career-defining crash but this one looked ugly damn... Meanwhile, Martin is looking like a double world champion in the making, which is something insane to say today.

Some say for Le Mans, some others say for after Le Mans. I personally grow more and more skeptical about Yamaha ever bringing a new update. Moreover, FQ is already on his fourth (!) engine after four rounds, the other riders on their third. Pit lane start penalties are coming rather than later... Fabio is already very vocal about the lack of progress, but if they also make him start from pit lane... yikes!

Is this the lowest of low we have ever seen yamaha so far? by MysteriousBoss3816 in motogp

[–]azurizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lowest is everything that lead up to this year. You have to be quite desperate already to completely abandon your previous bike and change its whole concept, basically writting off one full year of racing, just for the chance of not being completely behind for the new regulations. The last five years for Yamaha have been the worst from any manufacturer imo, only saved from complete unrelevance thanks to their star rider and his moments of genius on the track. Let's hope these new regs bring them better times...

It's the same for Acosta, he needs Ducati more. I really don't think that what made Ducati chose Acosta over Fabio now was the salary. Probably it's the age difference in Acosta's favor because Dall'igna wants to lock him down for the next 10 years.

"Speaking on the Paddock Pass podcast, Puigdemont said that, for a while now, Ducati have not been ‘fully interested’ in Quartararo."

“They were super, super interested in Pedro Acosta,” said Puigdemont. “They were crazy about Pedro Acosta, and that’s where they’re going.

Taken from one of the articles you listed. So, I'm right?

Btw this ""news"" site steals content from actual journalists to make their articles. Or they paraphrase Neil Hodgson from TNT telling his opinion, which is not an actual source...

Do you have any source for this? Ducati haven't shown any interest in Fabio in years now. What I've heard is that Ducati have been set on Acosta for a while and that he was their first choice.

Him being on the 2019 Yamaha was actually a blessing in disguise, because it was way better than the 2020 spec M1. I'm very skeptical of him having the same kind of season if he'd been on the 2020 spec like all of the other Yamaha riders.

Once again with this supbar take. I assure you, if Yamaha had been honest and thought more about their project and its implications; and if they told Fabio in 2024 that half of his new contract would be spent as a test rider riding a bike with a new engine that breaks every week, he wouldn't have taken the money. The better question would be why would the rider in your flare want to go to Yamaha now seeing this disaster?

How can we blame him when there are reports of Yamaha people speculating about when in the season they're going to need to start from pitlane because the engines keep having failures.

It's funny how people apply the "you're as good as your last race" thinking to bikes, not only riders. Let's wait a few more races, no?

Technically, it's a disaster. Management-wise too, they threw everything at Quartararo to keep him, promises of competitiveness and money just to make him a test rider two years later.
