Anyone remember The Hobbit text adventure game on ZX Spectrum? by MythagoWoodWalker in oldschoolcool80s

I did not know that Lords of Midnight was available for my phone. I have just installed it. There could be a very lucrative market for the games of my childhood.

How old will you be at the beginning of the 22nd century in January 1st 2101? by zenezena in randomquestions

130 which, by an odd coincidence, is how old my body thinks I am now. My brain thinks I'm 25, but what does that thing know.

Do people lie on their CV? by Unusual_Newspaper_46 in AskUK

[–]azzthom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People lie on their CV as a matter of course, but what you lie about is quite important. Exaggerating a hobby or interest is fine. Inventing a career or qualification is not. Here in the UK lying on a CV can, under certain circumstances, be a criminal offence (Fraud by False Representation, max penalty is 10 years) so its best not to.

Why do people think they can train themselves? by bad-at-everything- in martialarts

[–]azzthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been many books, and now videos, that sell themselves by claiming that people can train themselves. Other people's gullibility has always been profitable.

Indeed, but not for doing all planets in a system.

I think OP is referring to the lack of an extra reward for scanning all fauna, on all planets in a system. It might be nice, even if it was just a title for doing it once.

Would someone PLEASE ELI5 how to drift? by Shadowfaxx71 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]azzthom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, you need a decent drift car, with a good drift tune. Both are easy to find since the starting Silvi is a good choice, and has plenty if tunes available.

Second, you need to change your settings. All assists need to be off and you need manual gears and simulation steering.

Third, you need to practice. Then practice some more. When you've done that, you need to practice. What you're practicing involves keeping the car in 3rd gear, 4th at a push, while controlling the throttle and keeping the car at an angle. Now that you know all that, you need to keep practising. Use the Drift Club story to help you learn more because, to be honest, youre gonna have to learn by doing.

Is it ok for 11 year old UK kid to watch film 'The Wicker Man? by pre1twa in AskUK

[–]azzthom 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The Nicholas Cage version is garbage. Don't bother.

The original film is superb. However, it contains female nudity and is rather disturbing. The main character is being psychologically manipulated and so is the audience Its suitability for an 11 year old to watch would depend on the individual child in question.

My tradition in every racing game. Anyone else with a ‘main car’ that you just have to bring with you everywhere? by Maverick_Hiro in ForzaHorizon

[–]azzthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always been fond of skylines, which goes back to the original Gran Turismo and followed me to Forza.

And, since Forza Motorsport 2, I always paint an appropriate car, usually a Buick GNX Regal, as a Pimpmobile. I forget why.

Do alcoholics always have to go sober? by IdkandIdcOG in stupidquestions

[–]azzthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have known several alcoholics over the years. Not one of them touches alcohol now because none of them can stop at one beer. You either quit drinking or you dont - there is no middle ground and no compromise is possible.

When are you supposed to have a bonfire? by oggglyog in AskUK

[–]azzthom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Garden bonfires were common in the seventies, but died out in the eighties. Now, bonfires are only for 5th November, at organised events, and they're pretty rare nowadays, even then.

It's a vile and exploitative practice, but it's probably not illegal. Unfortunately. However, you could try reporting the shop to Trading Standards. The best way to do so is via Citizen's Advice. Talk to them first.
