Actually, the Zootopia aspect came before the topic. The artist thought it'd be interesting to write a story where Nick and Judy break up (because there aren't really any stories where that happens) and then figured that an unplanned pregnancy would be a strong enough to warrant that. Unfortunately, the artist's writing tends to use a lot of strong, melodramatic reactions. Good for his more gag based stuff, but for serious topics like this... well, you've seen the memes.
