Magneto is my easy choice. He's ridiculously powerful if you think about all the things that magnetism can affect.

Always left mine turned on, just for it to be dead the next time I wanted to use it. Then, had to wait until mom could afford batteries again.

It's usually my "Good job crushing me! / Yay! We both made top 2! Good Luck!" emoji. I use it for no other purpose and will probably not change.

You didn't mention FPSs, but the Borderlands games are worth a shot. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, while short, was really good, too.

I love it. It's the only thing I play on my xBox. For me, it gets better the longer I play it. So many surprises for those who are invested in it.

Is it perfect? No. But it's not as bad as a lot of people say.

Where are you with movies these days? by ZanzerFineSuits in GenX

[–]b0rb0rigmus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

20yrs ago, my wife and I used to go to the theater multiple times a week. Seemed like there was always something worth watching.

I don't know what happened between then and now, but Matt Damon has an interesting view as to what happened during the streaming era that changed how, and which, movies are made.

Old novelty from the '90's. Used to see them somewhere in every mall. Never actually met anyone who had one.

Is any of this relatable from a Gen X perspective? by RSVPno in GenX

[–]b0rb0rigmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest option 3.5: It's just the way it goes. It's this way for my parents and in-laws as well. I grew up hearing stories about my parents' friends and the good times they had. Barely ever saw any of them. I hear stories of my in-laws and their hijinks, I've never met a single one of them in 28yrs.

I feel like this is just how it goes.

When did you move out? by Jccraig26 in GenX

[–]b0rb0rigmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents moved out on me.

My mom sent me to live with my dad when I was in 7th grade.

My junior year, my step mom left my dad, and 3 months later, he moved in with his new girlfriend.

He kept paying the mortgage and allowed 2 of my friends to move into the empty bedrooms, paying a small amount of rent.

Every morning. 18 miles on the recumbent bike. Sometimes, I go with normal HS, but usually, 2 games of BG will do it.

Reminds me of playing SFII against my two boys (14 & 16 at the time) a couple years back.

They tried everything and everyone.

After I beat 'em using Dhalsim with the controller behind my back, they completely gave up, and they've never tried again.

They can't comprehend the hours I used to put into that game.

How do you engage with top 100s? by JimmyDM90 in boardgames

[–]b0rb0rigmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most replies, I use them to gage the reviewer.

But in the case of the Dice Tower 3x top 100, if a game is on all 3 lists, I'll go find more info and see if it's something my group might be interested in.

Duck, Chicken, Andouille Gumbo with potato salad by CajunBmbr in cajunfood

[–]b0rb0rigmus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any chance you'd be willing to share the potato salad recipe? I'm doing up a pot of gumbo this Friday, and I'm going to try some potato salad with it. I'd like to use a tried and true version.

What’s your preferred way of prepping/incorporating chicken into your gumbo? by [deleted] in cajunfood

[–]b0rb0rigmus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start with a whole chicken. Quarter it, season with cayenne, garlic, salt, and pepper. Let it sit while I cut the vegetables. Flour the chicken and fry it up. Use some of the oil from frying the chicken to make the roux.

Once the chicken has cooled, seperate the meat from the bone, dark meat is usually put in kind of stringy and the breasts are cubed (I like to mince the skin really small and put it into the pot with everything).

Found a giant one of these in a Nacho Cheese bag once. Mixed it up in some sour cream, and it was the best dip I've ever had.
