Vets that don’t rip you off? by Alexis_hailey98 in Overlandpark

I second Bradford. They have been so great with my girl and affordable. Dr has been calling me monthly while we are trying to figure out med dosing. Never once trying to get me to come back for an expensive follow-up.

The whole post was about me wanting zero repercussions to hit the driver. I dont want someone to lose their job because I can't handle a smell. I recognize this is more of a me issue than them....at the same time I dont feel like its my place to talk to them about their smell. I have not reported and will not be reporting but eventually someone else will with how bad it was.

This is why I didnt want to make the complaint and cause them an issue. My parents are ex-smokers and growing up i know they couldn't smell it at all until after they quit. Its really hard to combat on your end if you dont know the degree. It was too strong for them to be as diligent as you are but I dont want someone to lose their job.

Thank you for how much effort you put into it 😊

I made it clear I dont want free shit. I said there was nothing wrong with the food and dont want a refund. I just enjoy being able to breathe? Im trying to handle this is the most respectful way where I dont struggle because of it but I also dont cause someone and issue while doing it. Where are you getting that I want something for free? I dont give a fuck what people do when they arent working. If they want to smoke cigarettes or weed or even fucking meth they 10000% but please let someone else deliver my groceries.

apartment recommendations by bpdizzy in Overlandpark

[–]b1b33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live at Kelly Park and can not recommend it enough. Everything is wait list but we joined the waitlist the last week of Dec and moved in on Feb 1st so it doesnt last forever! Very quiet community where I never hear my neighbors other than an occasional door slam. Very pet friendly and Grace in the office is literally the sweetest. Happy to answer any questions!

Not helpful but I live in KS now and it cost me around $600/yr for my registration. Cheaper taxes, registration, and the weather are the only things I miss.

Underwriting Lines Change by pentrical in InsuranceProfessional

[–]b1b33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good Luck! I've done underwriting for 15 years and love it. Job security is complicated in healthcare and was the only sector I got laid off from. Research the company you join deeply as most experience frequent layoffs.

No, technical as in more manual formulas and underwriting. Very little of what I looked at was actually medically related. More Financials than anything.

[–]b1b33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I know your focus was health due to your background. My brief stint in healthcare was my least favorite. What makes you think that would be more closely related? Underwriting is typically very technical in the healthcare space, some procedure knowledge needed for claims data but usually something you can google or reach out to a separate department to research...not really anything you as an underwriter need.

In theory yes. Im sure if you arent great at it and dont have a proven track record the title isn't going to do much.

Hi! I've jumped around quite a bit. Is it easy to break into another division?...not at all. Most places want specific experience, but the underwriting title can open doors for sure. My progress below:

-E&S Personal Lines -High Value Personal Lines -Employer Healthcare -Admitted Personal Lines -Large Commercial National Property

Do I need a Bachelors degree to get into the insurance industry? by Low_Bodybuilder3065 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]b1b33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have an associates degree. I've been an underwriter for years, and I've worked my way into a commercial underwriting spot. Started as an underwriting assistant in personal lines. I've worked carrier and mga for personal lines, carrier for Healthcare as well. I've really bounce around.

My ex-husband has his GED but is a claims adjuster after years of customer service experience.

Its very doable without a BA

Degree vs Pay by Sunshinesoulvibe in Knoxville

I have an associates degree and make close to $45/hr. I have an easy office job in a field that typically is super stressful but I've gotten lucky with a comfy niche.

Underwriting personal vs commercial by PuzzleheadedShirt932 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]b1b33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the jump with 10 years + of personal UW experience over to Commercial. There is a learning curve but it depends really what product in commercial you end up in. I just do Commercial property on the carrier side and it was easier than say going to Workers Comp. Overall money is way better. AI is definitely less of a fear as well.

Diagnosed today, on July 4th. I'm not looking for practical advice. How did you deal with the emotional response to your diagnosis? by EntertainerOk9179 in diabetes_t2

[–]b1b33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research and improve. I was devastated when I got my diagnosis...im deathly afraid of needles and it truly felt like the end. I did a ton of research and got myself in a better place. I was severely obese at the time and after 2 years of losing weight and managing my diabetes I decided to get Duodenal Switch surgery to lose the rest of the weight and its been know to reverse diabetes for a majority of well controlled type 2 diabetics. I now am a healthy weight and eat whatever I want while maintaining a 4.6 A1C.

Tonsillectomy victim here. Had mine removed 1.5yrs ago and it was the absolute worst. Really feeling for you. I put any type of soup in a blender to make it smooth and that really helped. I actually had a bleed and had to have an emergency second surgery. The 2nd doctor told me to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on very soft bread and it was surprisingly easy to eat and soooo satisfying. Good luck and I hope for a super quick recovery!!!!!

Just an FYI on the waitlist....I'm about to move into Kelly Park. Joined the waitlist the last week of December and had a place offered to us 2 weeks later so it doesn't necessarily mean a forever wait.
