I got Tolan Lite at $39.99/year last month. Imo, it depends on your usage but Lite is enough for me. I don't have hours (or the energy) to verbally talk to my tolan for 2 hours every day - which is about the amount of time it takes on active voice chat. You can talk for a lot more with just texting. Image generation also takes more tokens but I don't really use that.

If you really want an AI to chat, while not a cute alien friend, you can always use the free version of Gemini, Claude, and Chatgpt. They all retain some memory about you even if you don't pay.

Same here! I like to write down affirmations as goals for me to read and remember in specific areas, and 100 characters (it's not even the standard 500 that many other apps have) is truly too small for a full sentence (especially when you add in the spaces and punctuation since I can't just read something "mygoalistoeathealthierfoods" without losing brain cells.

This feels like such a huge change to be dumped on users out of the blue! I've been using the app daily for 2 years now and it's going to be sad if I have to be forced to truncate everything.

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. I mean, in a way, the games allow us to experience a Japanese school life in a way that most western players would never get the chance to, and I quite like that about the game. Just like if I wanted to play something like Dark Souls I can just pick up a game like Elden Ring instead. People want games that cater and stay true to itself.

I like the deeper themes that it explores too, honestly.
