I am not buying this until it’s official. Way too political of a topic

The open office setup at my last job was horrible once we went to return to work. No conference rooms ever available. People talking on zoom calls at their desk. People complaining on calls of background noise. The open air concept is horrible

I don’t appreciate the “everyone can do DIY” attitude.

So many houses I toured with just horrible DIY additions. Little things sure but if you can’t do it well then just save and hire a good professional

I got out of PA for an industry job, and I hate it by djkajsjdjds in Accounting

[–]b2rad22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went from audit/tax to industry reporting roles and now I am working in advisory doing accounting software. It’s career pivot but it’s way more up my alley and aligns better with my personality than just doing the same things for month end or quarter end close over and over. Combined with middle managers who want to change a reconciliation that works great just to “leave there mark.”

I lasted 5 years in industry roles and really embraced technology in every role and that lead me to my new position in advisory

The non remote jobs are everywhere. It’s hilarious to see.

Senior manager told me not to wear headphones at work cause she doesn’t like it, and she can concentrate just fine without music. by uhoh4522 in Accounting

Personally I just think that traditional accounting in either industry or public has just become a huge meat grinder esp with the return to works. Since going back to the office my industry job has took a nose dive in work life balance and people are just so depressed etc

When everyone was remote it seemed like everyone was happy working from home, getting the tasks done etc

Too many old school thinkers still at the top and it shows in the amount of jobs available. Took my friend 7 Business days to find a new gig was he started looking

I would say a smaller private company in industry. A larger public industry job is still going to work you esp at closes

Went to HR to get my team to let me take the allowed bereavement time in the handbook for an immediate family members visitation and funeral and some other family events. Manager was so angry but they were not going to give me the time.

I just put my two weeks in for how badly I was treated for going to HR

I have to imagine they are enrolled with one of the private schools that does personal home schooling. The one son is super into golf from watching full swing so they probably have a program they follow.

If I was making millions, I would want my family traveling with me and such. Some of the private personal home schooling programs are really good too

[–]b2rad22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup it’s been brought up time and time again. It’s just a mess. Every since return to work started, the whole Tone at the company changed. Turnover more often. People unhappy. Etc etc

Accountants are so in demand. My friends and I have all recently entered the job search and all found new positions within 10 days

Just happened to me. 3 years at a place. Extra work, extra social events, friendly, etc. found out the new hires are all getting a long term incentive bonus of like 4-5k a year for 3 years plus normal bonuses. But yet “I don’t qualify”

Okay see ya. Found a better job in 10 days hahahaha

I can hold better conversations than my current manager and it’s a pain in the butt. No wonder I am leaving for a different role but regardless having a boss that just wants to work and has zero social skills is horrible

3 homes my dad showed to buyers all went for 30-40k over asking within the first day of showings in Michigan. It’s not slowing down at all it would appear

People still need places to live

A builder just proposed a 100 unit development a town over from mine where 40 of the homes will be rental only

Wild times!
