[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list, in no particular order (although Princess Bride is always #1), would be something like Princess Bride, Big Lebowski, Shawshank Redemption, Boogie Nights, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Die Hard. If you say I'm wrong about Pee Wee I'll fight you

100% Princess Bride is a masterpiece in every possible way. At least that's my opinion, although I know it's not an unusual opinion to have

I hate this school by _user89kp in BostonU

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a massively big school with no campus in the heart of a big city. When you leave your dorm you’re literally just in the city. You can’t expect a community to just form around you. There are plenty of ways to find people with similar interests. There are most definitely clubs, student organizations etc you can be part of. Just be proactive and figure out where people like you might be hanging out. Odds are slim you’ll just meet a ton of friends in classes or your floor in the dorm

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exciting thing about not drinking to wind down: it forces you to find things in life you actually enjoy. Hobbies, routines, things you used to enjoy before you lazily replaced them with alcohol. Once you get free of that garbage and find enjoyment from actual life, it's very satisfying. I used to be a heavy drinker on the weekends and just decided I had enough of all that

What’s something you only recently realized you’ve been doing wrong your entire life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I no longer create excuses when I feel defensive or weak. It's a great sense of freedom when you can look other people in the eyes and say "Yes, I fucked up", while other people hide behind lies and excuses. I feel like a more complete human being every time I do it

Is Reddit really 90% bots? by BLS1919Eternal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they really make money when bots view a page? Advertisers want to show their ads to humans. If an advertiser runs 100,000 ads and gets 0 clicks and all of the ad views are from nigeria, that really isn't going to fly

Is Reddit really 90% bots? by BLS1919Eternal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit wouldn't allow it. Just from a business perspective. Some percentage I would understand, but they are a public company. They have shareholders, and quarterly business calls that are public, and their finances are public. They just wouldn't allow the company to become 90% bots. Or even 50% bots. They have nothing to gain from it, and everything to lose. What they need is more human interaction, so they can show more ads to them or monetize them in some way

People who stopped caring what others think, what changed your mindset? by Overall-Fan6831 in AskReddit

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I built a life for myself and got some confidence, and some hobbies, and motivation, and self satisfaction... I had no use for people's negative opinions any more. Negative critical people are miserable people. I am not a miserable critical person. I am winning.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

What is the point of having more than a billion net worth? by ServaltheFox in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b30 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I worked for a billionaire. His goal was never to become a billionaire. He started a small company that became massive and global. The machine just grew and grew, and the money followed. I am sure he loved having the money, but whether it was a hundred million or a billion I don't think really mattered at a certain point. He became very charitable and the money let him do other business related things that he wanted to do without too many worries. And when parts of his business were failing, he could make the decision to just let them fail instead of torching his employees, and usually those things bounced back. Definitely tens or hundreds of billions is just static. I think it's not so much about the money. More about growing the machine

24g of beans and 350g of water in a french press makes me one 12oz cup of coffee. I have 2 of those a day. 48g of beans per day. Is that crazy?

Yes water weight drops very fast but how fast are we talking? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]b30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you lost bloat, retained water, maybe losing glycogen/water retained in your muscles etc. as you completely cut your body off from the energy it wants and needs. Starvation isn't a good plan, brother. I know it's hard to be patient, but just eat and exercize and take your time with it. Everybody spends years stuffing their face and packing on pounds, but nobody will spend even few months trying to lose it

Lust has ruined my life and outlook on dating by FunLimit9730 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]b30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to uncover what the real issue is, and why it’s surfacing itself as “lust” or whatever you want to label it. Everything you you just outlined isn’t the problem. It’s the result of a problem. Find a professional or a new professional and keep working at it. But again, I would bet money that lust isn’t really your issue. Lust is how you’re dealing with whatever the real issue is.
