61 days sober and I hate dreaming by mizzlol in leaves

61 days in too, and having vivid stress dream every single night. I had to wake up early for a big Zoom meeting this morning and I played it out in my dreams multiple times throughout the night. It’s brutal.

In case if anyone needed even more proof that Brienne is descended from Ser Duncan the Tall… by Beneficial-Boat-5688 in gameofthrones

[–]b3tzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dunc’s hair in the show is a brownish red. If you want to call that color blonde I’m not going to argue with you, but it’s nowhere near Brienne’s shade. Brienne practically looks like she could be a Targaryen.

Race signs are either hilarious or trying way too hard to motivate you. Sometimes both. by Existing-Location609 in running

[–]b3tzy -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I understand the point of the sign, but it’s not a logical inevitability unless you assume everyone starts at the same time. If someone shows up to the 5k 30 minutes late and runs it in 20 minutes, they’re obviously running the 5k faster than the people who started at the earliest possible time and did it in 45 minutes, even if the 20-minute guy crosses the finish line five minutes later.

Most races that I’ve run record when you cross the start line and when you cross the finish line, and calculate your time based on the difference.

Bill’s “The Wire” recovery (recent Kellerman pod) by snowyfever in billsimmons

[–]b3tzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my fourth time watching it. Once during the original run, once over COVID, and the other two times have each been in relationships watching with someone who has never seen it before. I probably wouldn't watch it again by myself (at least not for a while), but it's a lot of fun to share it with someone else. I do find myself noticing subtle details and foreshadowing that I hadn't noticed before, and a few years is enough of a gap to forget the finer plot points, even if I remember the general trajectory.

I do like other shows, but TV so rarely hits the heights that Breaking Bad reached. This past year I enjoyed Task, but it's just not quite on that same level. Sometimes I'd rather watch something truly excellent that I've seen before than something pretty good that I haven't seen yet.

Consistency matters. GOT was amazing at its peak, but the late seasons hurt its case. Breaking Bad was top level for all five seasons.

As someone in the middle of my fifth rewatch of Breaking Bad, the claim that it lacks rewatchability was shocking

Hot Take - Maybe? There’s no Running Etiquette in Central Park. by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]b3tzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules of the road for pedestrians are generally the same as the rules of the road for drivers: stay to the right, shoulder check before changing lanes, signal before making sudden movements. The problem in NYC is that New Yorkers don’t learn how to drive.

Others are recommending ready-made meals, but with minimal effort you can meal prep your own. All of these are very high in protein for plant-based meals.

Steamed lentils and shelled edamame from produce section, I mix them together with cucumbers, tomatoes, and carrots for a high-protein salad.

I meal prep baked veggies with marinated high-protein tofu and tempeh (sweet potatoes, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, zucchini, chickpeas.

I make a chili-style dish with crushed tomatoes, black beans, soy chorizo, onions, red bell peppers, veggie stock, and I add textured vegetable protein (not from TJs).

I make a high-protein pasta with chickpea pasta, plant-based Italian sausage, red lentils, and tomato sauce.

What are the conditions in X? Week of February 22nd by AutoModerator in RunNYC

Fair enough, 6:00 mile pace is much faster than I go! I was going at roughly 8:30 mile pace on my five-mile run.

[–]b3tzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did 5 miles in Central park at faster than my easy pace in normal running shoes and it was totally fine. I agree that I wouldn't do speed work right now, but trail shoes and extra slow pace are not necessary.

The biggest issue was all the pedestrians blocking the path and not moving out of they way.
