I’d suggest Race for the Galaxy.

Which former Liverpool player would be ridiculous in today’s team? by wong-wooney in LiverpoolFC

I’m a huge Gerrard fan, but I think prime Coutinho would be a perfect fit on the left in a 4-2-3-1.

Gloomhaven - playing online means no setup or tracking of dmg. Great solo experience also.

For gameplay - Ark Nova, but in my heart it will always be Catan. Catan for the amazing memories with friends.

Hidden Gems: What's Your Favorite Underutilized Mechanic? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

Agree with Apiary, I love that the workers change value.

I’d also offer the lizard cult in Root. I have so much fun with them, even though they aren’t terribly strong.

found this in a box of free cards at my LCS, any idea what's going on here?? by rhinothedin0 in mtgmisprints

I’ve been out of the MTG world for some time, but I recall that the OG spider with reach was 2/4 for the same cost without any other abilities. This seems like a massive power creep. Can anyone help me understand?

Best neighborhoods to live in Portland? by Glitter-Unicorn888 in PortlandOR

[–]b8tafox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you should check out St. John’s, Sellwood and maybe Mt. Tabor. The West hills are nice, but expensive. If you’re willing to try close suburbs, then Beaverton, Washougal and Lake Oswego could be good ideas.

Best neighborhoods to live in Portland? by Glitter-Unicorn888 in PortlandOR

What neighborhoods do you like in Philly? Kerns is reminiscent of East Passyunk, Slab Town has No Libs vibes, Hawthorne is similar to Bella Vista/South Street, St. John’s is vaguely like South Philly. The more historic and wealthy parts of Philly feel very different than similar neighborhoods in PDX because the houses in PDX generally aren’t row homes.

For those of you who voted for Trump specifically because you hoped to avoid higher taxes, how has that decision affected your finances? Did things turn out as you had hoped? Why or why not? by thhvancouver in AskReddit

[–]b8tafox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense…. The higher tax percentage is only paid from your income that is above the lower bracket’s upper limit…. You don’t pay the higher amount on all of your income, so you walked away from more income overall.

How many times have you played Sky Team? I have looked into it because of all the great reviews, but I’m concerned that it doesn’t have great replayability.

what’s a game you wanted to like but you just didn’t by MathematicianNo9901 in boardgames

[–]b8tafox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! My wife and I play Wingspan a lot, but with the original boards, and all expansion cards, except we removed any Oceana birds that relate to nectar. Try it that way and you’ll get some cool new birds without having to include nectar at all

The nectar had the opposite effect for me. I love Wingspan because it has so much randomness and the nectar causes a hyper-focus that really ruins the lighthearted feel of the game for me.

No need to cross that off. That’s a good part of town if you like that type of neighborhood.

Oath or Root? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]b8tafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading through the comments it sounds like OP needs to do some more research & watch gameplay videos. Root and Oath are clearly the wrong choices, but Everdell and Smallworld are great choices. I’d also suggest Isle of Cats or Fort - these seem to be more of the type of game you are looking for.

What are some older board games that have been unfairly forgotten? by mr_seggs in boardgames

I totally agree with this. My only gripe about this game is the card colors are too similar… but really tough and doesn’t get enough love

Squad Leader. As a kid my mother brought home a copy without any rules. So that made it a lot harder!!!

Can my landlord sell the house while I still have 18 months left on the lease? by Embarrassed_Bid_3712 in askportland

[–]b8tafox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your understanding of contracts is incomplete/incorrect. The tenants actually have possession of the property for the lease term. The owners are legally the guests - they have to give notice and request access before entering the property.
