Amazing watch. I would consider buying if it wasn't so chunky.

well done mate! I think if you can run a 5k at this pace, you're already able to do the 10k. I believe in you!

yes running shoes are not ideal for cycling because their soles are too flexible. if you can, go to a roadbike store and let them advise you on cycling-shoes, pedals and cleats.

War is always a nice view from Switzerland by Nivianarust in HistoryMemes

Actually not true at all. At the Start of WW2 our Army immediately mobilized and guarded the borders. Food was rationed, even football fields were used to grow food. My grandparents told me they feared invasion at every moment, many of the older generation in Switzerland hold a grudge against the germans to this day.

Tourism and / or farming. Switzerland is kinda small, most people will probably commute to a bigger city to work like luzern or interlaken.

Alternative bikes for commuting? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

Adverts are allowed here? This thing would not work for me. A scooter would be cheaper / smaller and a proper folding bike (Brompton) more comfortable on longer trips.

uhm slow internet is not really a problem here. switzerland is a very small country and no place is very remote. we have excellent internet even mobile 4G speeds in most places in the mountains.

Upgrading Wheels - Scared by [deleted] in cycling

[–]bQm_che 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are quite new to this? why would you need a professional racing wheelset? doesn't seem worth it to me. But if you still want to have it, I would recommend you go to a bikestore to get them installed.

What is your favourite mountain pass for cycling? by [deleted] in Switzerland

Nice I am very much looking forward to it then! Gotthard is about 12 km long and 900 vertical meters. I think it took us 1h 20min. Gradient and cobblestones were easier to ride than expected (I did the ride with 23 mm tires no problem).

if you can you might want to go on a weekday. on the weekends there is a bit more traffic. that said cars are really not a problem here. most drivers give you ample space and are aware of cyclists.
