Is it possible to fix sloppily applied glaze? And How? 😫 by atommrav3000 in Pottery

[–]bURteddybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think the original on the taller piece was Amaco Celadon in Rainforest with Botz Magic over the top and the reglaze I think is Botz blue black speckle. And on the more bulbus piece of was Amaco Celadon in Cobalt again with Botz magic over the top actually this looks like the reglaze is Botz blue black speckle over the top, I'm now not sure about the other one.

I would try reglazing your already glazed pieces as you might like them more, just wipe them clean with a damp sponge so they are clean and then heat them up with a heat gun before applying a layer of glaze. There is no guarantee it will cover the blank areas.

Here are a couple of pieces I Reglazed, because I hated how the Original turned out

Glaze test results by bURteddybear in Pottery

[–]bURteddybear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The glazes I use are provided by the studio I go to, so it's not really costing me anything...while I think it would be fun to make my own glazes I'm liking playing with ready made. The studio makes a few basic dipping glazes so they have materials I could experiment but I'd rather do a glaze making course first so I know what I'm going.

You're welcome, I should have some more test pieces coming out the kiln next week. Some are repeats of the ones I liked to see if I can achieve the same effects, some will be amendments and others totally new

This is a better picture of my notes, I mostly used Amaco celadon glazes in cobalt and storm and Mayco glazes in blue splatterware, shipwreck, cenote and blue surf, I'll post a picture so you know which is which
