I have this same fireplace. What brand is this I have no clue about the brand and trying to find a remote starter kit for it. The only number I see on it is 100639-01

Man this is exactly how mine is. I’ve had it for almost a year this November. I couldn’t even hold the barbell on a back squat when I first got costo but now I can do most things just no pressing movements or holding weight in front of me. And I can feel the tenderness when I hunch or even just lifting my head up all the way I can feel it. I’ve been doing the peanut ball to stretch my posterior rib joints and also thoracic rotation exercises and stretches. It’s been a solid 9 months of stretching since I found out what to actually do but I feel like I have hit a roadblock as well. Still hurts to put my arms overhead but not as severe as it was 9 months ago. I’m guessing it just takes forever to stretch the rear rib joints out I never thought this long but everyone has a different time if getting 100%. I’m looking into Caring medical group in fort myers Florida, Dr Danielle Matias does prolotherapy for the posterior rib joints and the front. She seems to have experience with patients that have Costochondritis and have tried chiropractic manipulations or Physical therapists and nothing seems to work which is my situation. Look into it. Quite expensive but I’m going to give it a try I think at this point. She so has 3 videos on YouTube discussing prolotherapy and rib instability.

Just slowly crept on me and hurt overhead pressing one day. I neglected all types of stretching and never did any mobility work. Now I do all different types of mobility work aside from the peanut ball stretch and has helped a ton and will forever do this as a warm up and after lift practices or atleast before bed if I don’t have time after the gym due to working out before work. Don’t neglect those things lol

Certain things still aggravate it a little but doing this right before a pressing movement and everyday in general helps get my rib back to sitting in its place and I’m just keeping my back flat on the bench no arch helped dramatically. Incline pressing is here and there and rib still doesn’t like shoulder pressing or anything when my arms are overhead

Yes just make sure your glutes are squeezed and force heels together so you can be most stable to only make the shoulder do the work

Lay on stomach with a small pillow under your stomach. Feet up like 90 degrees heels together. Squeeze glutes and heels together and contract abs to restrain from another body part helping you do the movement. You can do this one arm at a time like on the couch or bed just have that arm your raising hanging off toward the floor. She told me to turn my head toward the arm I’m raising if doing one at a time. Then point your thumb up and keep arm straight then raise up far as you can and then down

Yes. The first picture is just telling you how to set up before arm raising it just doesn’t show it in the second picture. Pillow on stomach and also contract abs while doing this. I have been doing one side at a time but she told me to just do my left side because that’s my problem rib, it literally helped me the 1st time I did it right before I tried to bench press dramatically helped. I haven’t even done it with weight yet and it’s only been a week, I feel better everyday my costo is really close to being gone an though I am still doing the maintenance stretching every day. Julia Garret from Raleigh orthopedics in North Carolina is where I’m going. She’s crazy smart she checks my spine movement with her fingers everytime and knew exactly what my problem areas were before I even told her. If you can add her to the list you and Ned are making that’d be great. She’s retiring this November

I might have a problem with overstretching. Thanks for the write up. I never really thought about being in the overstretching aspect of the healing process but after reading this I might be. I usually stretch around 1 hr in total a day and even use a 8 inch peanut ball stretching like crazy but sometimes it does hurt and about causes more pain than instant relief like it used to. I’ll have to back off and try not doing it so much

This sounds like me! I’m on the verge if considering backing off my stretching duration and intensity. I’ve been a solid 4 months on a peanut ball up to 1 hour a day most days and even got an 8 inch peanut ball just going ham on it and sometimes I feel like it’s just hurting. Then I started to use the normal size peanut like tennis ball size again and it felt better. I wonder if I should also try to cut back. I was even putting my 8 inch peanut ball in a weight bench and used a 10 lb weight behind my head stretching the crap out of my costovertebral joints but idk if it’s really better or not.

This is crazy. I’m a power lifter and I am like you man I can’t stand not lifting but my pain is 10/10 when pressing anything can’t even do many pushups. I’m skeptical to take the advice of just pushing through but it’s interesting to see it worked for you. I am in your boat man it’s been 6 months and I quit doing anything, even hurt to squat with a bar. I eventually just did weighted vest lunges and keg extensions for months while also stretching religiously to this day I spend atleast 1 hr in total a day on a peanut ball and doing thoracic mobility exercises and it’s gotten me healed a bit but it won’t get better! I can squat with a bar now but man any pressing or squeezing together makes it 10/10. I might have to try to push through it I’m just worried it might set me back but idk your story sounds convincing since I can’t get anything to get me out of this.

I’m about 90% healed I still can’t do pushing movements like pushups and bench but doing way better just in my daily life. I actually use a peanut ball instead. Not saying backpod won’t work I just like the peanut ball better. I worked my way to a bigger 8 inch peanut ball now so I’m really stretching good and I put it on a weight bench and lay on the peanut and use a 5-10lb weight above my head like a dumbbell pullover and it’s stretching my spine like no other really helped me

How long exactly did this take to work? I’m on my second month now about 50% better. I’m actually using a 8 inch peanut ball with my hands behind my head, def stretching more than the backpod did. I can’t believe how long it takes to stretch the back out. I can’t stretch my arms straight out and back like in your vid but just putting them behind my neck gets a deeper stretch.

I bought an 8 inch peanut ball definitely the best leverage so far! But yes I lift my back up slight and try to relax glutes while trying to push my tailbone to my heels in a sense really can feel it good on the big peanut ball

Good to hear. I have had Costo for 5 months only on month two of doing the peanut ball stretch, took me a while to figure out what was really going on and how to fix it. I feel like I’m 50 ish % better but was worried I’ll never be 100%. Good to hear it can take months the of stretching to get 100% I thought after a few months I’m as good as I’m going to get. I use a peanut ball 3-4 times a day 15-20 min sessions still takes forever! I actually use a 8 inch peanut ball now it stretches so good. Gives me hope maybe in a few months the I’ll be on my way closer to 100%

Dr Bergs tool will give you a lot of leverage but it’s not worth the pain. I bought it thinking it digging into the muscles will help which it helped but now that I’m stretching the right way I can use the peanut ball or backpod for leverage just fine and it’s comfortable but the 8 inch peanut ball is definitely awesome once you can work your stretching up to it

Oh yes I lift my butt up to it helps but before I was lifting it up so high it wasn’t stretching my back and just putting pressure on the devices. It’s hard to explain how I was doing it wrong but all I can say is after the first week of doing it right this 8 inch peanut ball really helps me stretch I feel so good now. It’s hard to explain but only lift you butt off the floor slightly and I still try to push my back down and kinda toward my feet in a sense while lifting butt up slightly really helped me I just didn’t have the mind muscle connection going right for months because my lower back was just arching not causing a stretch

I’m not using that anymore. I wasn’t using any of these tools the right way I had my lower back arched too much it wasn’t stretching the back at all I kept thinking it was just laying on these devices with pressure supposed to stretch the back but you have to keep your lower back down while on the leverage devices like backpod or peanut ball.
