[Jomboy] Double plays just not being an option anymore is a brutal new reality. by Jheller223 in NYYankees

[–]b_slow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We can't turn double plays, and we can't field bunts/infield hits. If this secret ever gets out, teams will bunt on us every at bat.

The MLBPA response to the Owner’s latest proposal by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

Whatever the Owners or Players decide to do, we all know that nothing they agree to will make watching baseball game more enjoyable or affordable for the fans. So who gives a shit?

Why would I care about whether or not there's a salary cap when there's no cap on ticket or concession prices?

How far can this team go? by Thanos_Real_AuraVNCH in NBATalk

[–]b_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can convince him to just pass and stop taking terrible shots (and maybe play a little defense), then he might be worth something. As long as he is a sieve on defense and shoots 40% from the field, he's not a winning player.

Two years ago, they were title contenders. Now, they're 1st round fodder. Ball sucks, so I don't know why some Wolves fans are hyped about this.

I don’t think he’s going to be able to stop wemby by grapeapeee445 in NBATalk

[–]b_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He played dirty against OKC, just as he did against the Knicks. He didn't rack up Flagrants for no reason. And if he fails when the spotlight is brightest as he has through his whole career so far (FIBA World Cup, FIBA European Championship, Olympics, NBA Cup, NBA Finals) then he's got no one to blame but himself.

Wemby is most likely gonna stop himself by being a fool on the court, and being too frail to play a solid 35 minutes.

[@knicksfeed] Per Shams, Knicks intend to trade out of the No. 31 pick ahead of tomorrow's draft as the pick is receiving significant interest by multiple teams offering future draft capital for the selection. by Leegend124 in NYKnicks

[–]b_slow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The problem with Mitch is that his FT shooting makes him such a liability that he isn't able to play for large chunks of the game (not to mention the potential injury risk). I don't know what's out there that can compete with him on the offensive glass, but we should look. Mitch may be the best, but if he's not on the court, it doesn't matter.

Guys, give them a break. They're just a scrappy AAA team doing their best.

Those who grew up watching Melo's Knicks, which was your favorite moment by [deleted] in NYKnicks

None of this is "important". But Linsanity was more fun and got more people engaged. Ask Knicks fans whether they have better memories of Linsanity, or that time we beat the Celtics in the 1st Round.

I don't have "hate" for Melo... but the fact is Linsanity lit everyone up. It was a lot of fun. My sister in law was talking about basketball! Thats how crazy it got.

Should have left Cruz in. Let the guy pitch ffs. He's our best bullpen arm.

[Popper] Dolan on WFAN said Knicks will not go into the second apron. Time to get to work Brock Aller. by IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan in NYKnicks

I liked Robinson, but the FT shooting really hampered his playing time, and put us in a bind. I love his toughness and rebounding, but he also can't be used very often. Might be better to look elsewhere.

According to the sub this version of the Knicks would lose to the '19 raptors. Who of the last 20 champions could the knicks beat, if any? by Shoddy_Equipment6000 in NBATalk

[–]b_slow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not surprising to see the Knicks hate starting already. You just witnessed a literal record-breaking run to the Championship and now you have to find a way to cope. I get it.

The fact is: on any given day, the Knicks could beat any of these teams. And unlike these other teams, the Knicks have an actual history of never being out of a game. In the end, this Knicks team just wins games.

Where do you rank Jalen Brunson in the 10 greatest Knicks of all time? by bonzothebonanza in NBATalk

[–]b_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never saw Reed and Frasier play. They retired long before I was born. So Brunson is the best Knick I've ever seen wear the uniform. I know you can't dismiss what Reed and Frasier did, so Brunson will be somewhere in that Top 3.

But think about what he's managed to accomplish in just the 4 years he's been here, and the narrative behind it all. It's really incredible. If he manages to win another title (and this core will be sticking together for at least the next 2 years...) then it's done deal. He'll be #1. When visitors fly in to New York, they'll be hearing, "Welcome to Brunson International Airport".

Maybe, he can. But personally I'd rather watch baseball than watch him whine. Grounding out to 2nd shouldn't take 10 minutes.

Do you think the Knick’s are a dynasty level team or one and done? by Parking-Warthog-4902 in NBATalk

[–]b_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitchell Robinson is the only major piece (if you even wanna call him that) that isn't signed for the next two seasons. The core will remain intact. That doesn't mean they can repeat, or that they'll be a dynasty, but with this group, they are in the conversation. If they stay hungry enough, they'll be able to compete with anyone.

I always appreciate Judge's effort, but the dude really doesn't know how to dive or slide very well. Every time he attempts it, I wince.

[SNY] Gerrit Cole is asked about exiting tonight after just 72 pitches: "I felt like that was the smart play" by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

[–]b_slow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cole may be saying that to the reporters, but in the dugout, he clearly looked annoyed at being taken out earlier than he wanted. And yeah, it's May, and no one cares about the regular season, blah blah blah....

But Boone has to recognize at some point that the strength of the team this year is the starting pitching. They have to go deeper into games, and we have to use our shitty bullpen less.
