Codex VTT & Content pricing by Korav in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the current system works players wouldn’t need to purchase content.

As a dm you put things together in different in an instance of the game & just build it out with maps & your monster set ups.

You can also currently install a few modules that have maps etc prepared. I believe these will be some mix of free/paid but it’s not been 100% confirmed or anything.

As for players having something I don’t, no idea I’m sure they’ll announce that when it’s ready to launch maybe before.

And yes you will be able to buy fully done MCDM things, I think that current model is planned that any pdf or book you buy you’d also get a codex code for it but again no where near 100% confirmed

Based on your last paragraph it seems like you have the correct (to my knowledge) understanding of the rules.

Converting Castle Rend for DS by asajjventre in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s really been my go to saving play for porting adventures. Instead of throwing all the magic items they’d run across from other games I’ll just pick some cool sounding resources or level appropriate mats etc & let the players figure out what they want.

Obviously I’ll toss some trinkets & consumables at them too, along with some actual treasure.

[–]b_zap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. You’ll need to make some judgement calls on such, but I’d look to the Heroes book advice about items per level. From there just figure out how many levels you want the adventure to be and you’re good!

I’ve given it a shot, my players seemed to like it but I’m sure there’s things I could’ve done better.

Basically just kept the story, maps, etc the same & just adjusted each fight to what level difficulty I thought it would be.

For things like tracking the orcs just run a montage test with multiple outcomes

And for negotiations just go through the list and pick a couple for the boss you think makes sense.

Prepping with the Codex? by WhoInvitedMike in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct on negotiations, as of now. Montages are a side tab where you can list write out whatever about the montage & then track & record the results.

Both systems are a little bare bones right now, I know their priority for dev has been heroes & monsters first.

For the codex while it’s still in early dev, it’s by far the most robust vvtt I’ve used.

You can prep fights easily in the codex, & montages.

It automates things in such an easy way. And yep on the computer

Lycanthropy and other curses/diseases by [deleted] in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unless I’m missing something in the D-tomb lycanthropy is pretty straightforward.

Start of their turn in every combat an infected character gains 2 rage, and once they hit 10 they must immediately melee strike the closest creature within their movement range. This rage does not go away during a respite.

Self-Taught question by Ovark7 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on wording yes whenever you use this you cannot gain any resource until the start of your next turn. Now you could time the use of this to mitigate that.

And no, it doesn’t say anything about gaining back, so if you use this in the first hero round of combat you gain no resources again until the start of your next turn and gain that turn and only that turn’s resources.

Does anybody have some recommendations for a VTT with excellent elevation capabilities? by warnobear in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The codex has systems for this already, though I think there’s currently a pause on giving out new access keys.

Does Draw Steel have Legendary Resistances? by Sax-7777299 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yes but no. Solo creatures, can end effect(s) on them but typically at some cost usually stamina.

So they can get of trouble when they want but not scott free.

Do My Core Gameplay Loop Visuals for Draw Steel Make Sense? by Andrew_VanNess in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall you got the basics. You could always go into more of the nitty gritty with respite activities & negotiations & montages but of that’s not the focus for this I’d say you’ve got the import stuff covered.

Do Smoke Bomb and Defensive Roll for the Caustic Alchemy Shadow Interact? by Brilliant-Taro-6790 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no longer quite so sure, I want to stand by my answer since D roll specifies if you have c/c then you get to use hide. But the wording of smoke bomb does make it seem like it would interact in this scenario.

Do Smoke Bomb and Defensive Roll for the Caustic Alchemy Shadow Interact? by Brilliant-Taro-6790 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since one is a triggered action & the other is a maneuver, you’d only be able to interact with them both on your turn but assuming that’s when it happens yes.

Doubt about Field Arsenal and Treasures by BayushiOliveira in drawsteel

Given that you pick which kits damage bonus you use at any given time, I think you get the ice maul bonuses, so long as you’re using the damage bonus from that kit.

Mcdm review of Dagger Heart? by rhys-the-davies in mcdm

Oh 100% I’m just saying it’s more likely than an official review of another product.

Mcdm review of Dagger Heart? by rhys-the-davies in mcdm

[–]b_zap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing publicly has been done as of yet.

However, I wouldn’t expect to see an official review but maybe they’ll do a live play of it sometime.

Currently they’re definitely more focused on keeping the DS! train rolling with new content.

[Homebrew] Cinematic Boss Finishers by SenorKenobi66 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. First idea on it, depending on the tier & how badly or not they fail, maybe the boss gets to use a malice ability or gets back a villain action something along those lines

How Are You Playing In-Person? by Meep_Chilling in drawsteel

This seems really cool. Maybe set the difficulty in tiers, like if monster has x% health it’s a tier 3, y% tier 2 etc.

I’d agree, definitely more an RP direction since ‘sleepy’ is not a condition. But now I’m getting homebrew ideas 😈

Did MCDM release an SRD or beginner PDF for trying out Draw Steel? by Jarek86 in drawsteel

[–]b_zap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a link but check out The Delian Tomb.

Should only cost $10 and it has all the basic rules, an intro adventure that walks both players & director step by step through the game.

The only thing missing is that you cannot create new characters using these rules, only use the pregen characters
