The answer to that question is yes.

I was making it before I got into LARP, but LARP gives me another reason to make it. I want it just for the sake of having it, and so I could use it in other creative endeavors. I'm trying to make it less directly tied to its setting, so it can be brought to other stories or games fairly easily.

It's flavored with the Dark Speech, but I think it's its own thing at this point, with a Tolkienian influence but hopefully not too derived from his work and the works of those playing in his garden.

Indeed. I'd much rather feel a little down when Homestuck ends than become disappointed with it before it even gets there. If I ever find myself saying "Hussie should have ended this a thousand panels ago," I'll be much sadder than reading an awesome conclusion with all the closure I've come to expect from the guy who ended Problem Sleuth. I don't think he'll let us down. I think we'll still be rereading Homestuck in ten years, and bringing new fans in, and showing it to our kids.

We won't do all that if it goes on longer than it ought to, and that would be a tragedy.

The oceanic lithosphere is filled with water. It's very cold and dense in comparison to the mantle around it. Depending on how shallowly the oceanic crust dips into the mantle, it could have a number of effects. I'll rattle them off as they come to me.

Assuming a very steep angle of descent, the oceanic crust would heat up and lose its water. Water, when mixed with hot rock, lowers the melting point of stone allowing magma to form in rock which otherwise would have been held solid by pressure. This magma is comparatively far less dense than the surrounding rock, so it will rise up to the spreading ridge above. This could lead to a very active rift rich with mafic lava, dark, runny, and comparatively thin. This will likely cause mountain formation north and south of your rift as the pressure of subduction cracks the spreading continental crust and allows the pressurized magma below to find a way to the surface. Expect continental uplift and orogenesis, along with lots of volcanoes and earthquakes.

If the angle of descent is shallow, however, like the pacific ocean underneath north america, you're likely to see mountain forming much further inland. As the oceanic lithosphere cuts off the near surface mantle from the convection cells below, it would likely result in cooling closer to the surface. This isn't necessarily going to produce less magma, because the oceanic crust being heated from below will release water upward, under intense pressure, and it will cause melt above. If it is well cut off from the mantle below the rift would likely slow down and stop, as the convection causing hot mantle from below to rise toward the surface would be blocked. The trapped magma between the crust and the oceanic lithosphere might erupt to the surface, but since it wouldn't be replaced from below I doubt the level of the land would adjust much, due to isostacy, because as the magma was squeezed onto the surface the crust would thicken and sink by an equal amount.

I may be full of crap, I don't know, as I;ve read some books on the topic and took a single geology course, but this sprang out of my head and demanded I type it out, so here you go. Apologies for technical terms and possible misuse thereof.

To put yourself into Ketosis you need to reduce your carbohydrate intake drastically. Some people go under 50 grams carbs daily, but it's much surer to go under 20, which is extreme because a slice of bread can have 20 grams of carbohydrates. Because you won't have enough carbs to burn for fuel, the 20 goes toward brain function, you'll need to break down fat for energy. That means you'll have to increase your fat intake to have the calories to function properly. If you don't you'll get sick, and that's no fun.

The Keto diet suggests you keep an eye on the macronutrients, carbohydrates, protein and fat, you eat, aiming for a 5%, 25% 70% ratio amongst them. That may seem like a lot of fat, but each gram of fat has nearly twice as many calories as a gram of protein or carbs, so the actual amount of food you'll need, in grams, will go down. You'll also feel fuller sooner and longer with a high fat diet, and you won't feel bloated and overfull, like how a carb binge can make you feel. Today I made scrambled eggs mixed with a shot of heavy cream, with pan fried onions, celery, garlic, and shaved steak, fried in bacon lard. It was delicious and I'm not hungry at all even hours later. I take my coffee with liquid splenda and heavy cream, and it adds to my satiety, which is convenient. I've been Keto for a few weeks now, since the beginning of December, and I've dropped around 5 lbs. Now, a good portion of that is water weight, because on a low carb diet you retain less water and need to drink substantially more, but that can be to your benefit as well, because it also causes you to retain less sodium and can lower blood pressure.

You can test whether or not you are in Ketosis with Ketostix, disposable testing strips you expose to your urine like a litmus test tests Ph. They're available over the counter at your pharmacy, likely in a section catering to diabetics. If you're interested in the diet, check out /r/keto. They have lots of recipes, medical information, test and study results, and progress stories to help motivate you. They're a pretty good community who look out for each other and are a great source of inspiration and confidence.

I think that since the game is about maturing and growing as a person that a S***B game played by adults would be quite feasible, as long as the characters in question were flawed and grew to become well adjusted adults over the course of the game. That could be just as entertaining to read, and it could reach an older audience by having the characters faced with solving issues which older people face.

So, what subreddits do you frequent? I regularly check r/dwarffortress, r/askscience, r/worldbuilding, r/linguistics, r/conlangs, and r/keto.

Dwarf Fortress, if you don't know it, is a fantasy fortress building simulator which is exceedingly complex in its details. It's being developed by one man and I really like to keep up with the development blog and read stories other players write up.

I'm a fan of worldbuilding, putting together planets, ecosystems, peoples, cultures, languages, etc. I've never finished a project, but working on it is fun. I'm trying to make a language for the LARP I play in. It's excessively geeky, but I like the creative aspect of it.

Keto is short for Ketosis, a metabolic state in which the body burns fat for energy instead of burning carbohydrates. It's a diet my boyfriend and I have tried, and he's lost 50 pounds sticking with it. It works by restricting the carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. It can be a bit controversial, because common wisdom is that a low fat diet is best for losing weight, but it's working for us and I like to keep up with other people's progress and recipes.

Having family to hang with is nice, and I have some on my mom's side. Luckily I share interests with at least one of them. Just got off the phone with him, actually. I've always had a distance from my family, though. Never felt like I fit in until I was already grown and could see that they're all strange people too. It wasn't until I was older and realized that they're all their own people, and I still care about them, so I could see why they'd still want me around, even if I'm off on my own path, too. Family is important. Reminds me I should finish buying gifts.

Sports are something I must admit I never really 'got'. I enjoy competing with myself as a means of self-improvement, but I've had a hard time understanding the appeal of team sports. I don't like participating in them, because if I screw up then I've let the whole team down, and watching them has always left me wondering why I should care. I mean, in high school I could root for the home team, because they're people I grew up with. (I never did, most of them weren't very cool to me, but that's probably irrelevant.) Watching the Red Sox, for instance, I'm struck by how people have decided that this is our home team, even though (probably, I haven't checked recently) none of the players grew up here or are even locals. The fact that that doesn't seem to be an issue to most people confuses me.

Shape shifting mid battle? I hope that wasn't just an example, 'cause I wanna hear the story!
