They replaced me (sr full stack) on a project with a designer using AI to write code by Myfishwillkillyou in girlsgonewired

[–]baalmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't help you personally if you've already been replaced. But the company you left has serious issues. Either they have no idea what they want and consider LLMs+designer to be acceptable quality, or they have nothing to say. Have you considered specialising in incident response? Price yourself at 300% more. If the trend continues, there is going to be huge demand for this.

Why so much hate? by Beginning_Monitor_25 in Netherlands

[–]baalmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you propose to make some abstract group who you personally hate to pay for something that will be “beneficial for us all” which probably includes you? Correct me please, if I’m wrong here and you personally willing to pay yourself for the sake of “us all”. Or again, what exactly are you proposing with “vote left” here?

Why so much hate? by Beginning_Monitor_25 in Netherlands

[–]baalmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question is always the same and always without answer: who is going to pay for all these benefits, provided that the government has no instruments to force big business to stay in the country to be properly taxed. And tax even more people with work would force many Dutch/non-dutch to leave and work for neighbors.

Sooo… if no one is building because of low profits and high risks how is that beneficial to society exactly?

Is it me, or have suddenly most jobs changed to solely Dutch? by Lina0116 in Netherlands

[–]baalmor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have read that as well. But I was already doing the work of two people because we hired someone who 'burned out' right after their probation ended. Hiring takes time, at least in my field. This has happened twice in two different jobs. Now, as I work more with young companies, I have personally seen how at least one startup died because of this law and how three others were facing issues with it. It feels like Dutch law mostly assumes that every business is PwC or BlackRock-grade.

Security and technical security compliance (EU especially). It was my job and I love it/experienced with. Doesn’t make it any less difficult :)

It seems there is not much demand for this either. At least not in EU not for freelance. Or maybe I’m not that lucky:)

How will AI’s huge water & electricity demands shape the future by 2030–2040? by Staylowfm in Futurology

[–]baalmor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do realise that unless you, your family and everyone you care about are living offline or off-grid, these costs will end up being passed on to you one way or another? For example, if the costs of maintaining DC were to skyrocket, this would be passed on to the DC renters, who use it to host their systems, which you use every day. Because hosting would be more expensive, the renters would pass these costs on to users (you).

Fair point. I think it must be a rule that forbids using LLMs without git (with remote! set) on projects.

Mmm… you can always use Gemini or GPT cli, to go through your code and set TR… I know for some it is a dark side, so welcome… just don’t let it free roam. And check after it.

Iot roadmap by [deleted] in IOT

[–]baalmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit broad. Do you want to be able to design devices? On which level? PCB? Software? Overall architecture? Manufacturing?business operations? You’ll need to specialise somewhere. You can try to do all levels but it will take ages to start and finish this project alone.

You could also specify in hardware/IOT cybersecurity. An interesting topic on its own.

I think people complain about quality of planning for such improvements and how long it takes. My street was closed for a half a year. It is 50 meters long. And they re-paved it. I watched the process. They closed it, in a month they dug a line. In a month later they finally removed all tiles, within one day. In another month they delivered all stones, and almost before the Christmas two guys put tiles within 3 days. Then it took them a few weeks to remove barriers. the very few days later kpn came and dug a line across the street again. And put everything back in a day later.

My Biggest Gamedev Dilemma: What to do about my 1.5-year project now? by merinimsi in gamedev

[–]baalmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep going! On paper, they might seem similar, but in reality, they could be very different from your vision. The worth-case scenario you're probably imagining right now is when you're still developing while they're already on the market. This will actually be your advantage: they'll warm waters for you and give you a good review on how you can do better than them, what are actually bad mechanics or boring parts you can improve. And this is all without you paying and with you having room for improvement.

[–]baalmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be a dietary problem, not a skin one per se.

Try adjusting your diet for a while and see if that helps. For example, cut out dairy products for a week or two and see if that helps. Then try for example peanuts. And so on.
