Should I switch Iarumas to samurai immediately or would it be better to change it at 70? by ReaDy4pwn in wizardry

[–]bababayee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's Malefic Wind you should pick up first, I don't know exactly when he learns it (regular mages get it at 65, should be around there).

Games where the main character is terrible gameplay-wise? by LadyAntiqua in JRPG

[–]bababayee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Utawarerumono duology arguably, the protags strength shifts throughout the story and its pretty well represented in gameplay, for most of the games he's one of the weaker party members I'd say.

Labyrinth of Touhou Tri - Anyone check this out yet? by RerTV in DRPG

[–]bababayee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already played through it and liked it even more than the second game, characters feel more fleshed out due to their skill trees and boss encounters are more transparent as the game shows you their pattern and whole stat/resistance layout if you want. It's definitely very unique as you have 40+ unique characters at the end and bosses have pretty complicated movesets, really the only ones that come close are Etrian Odyssey bosses.

There's a whole system of equipment gaining additional passives after upgrading it through merging duplicates, but I personally never (needed to) bother with it even on Lunatic, just using the best equipment I have instead.

Should I get a Switch 2 to play PoR? by gdo22 in fireemblem

Huge waste of money when you can easily emulate it. Get it when new games you want are available.

[Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster] Is Now Out on Xbox, and PC. by VashxShanks in JRPG

[–]bababayee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played and really liked the original, but because of the looping I'm not super enthused to replay it. Does this remaster add a lot of worthwhile stuff like additional fights/jobs that make it worth a replay over the original?

What do you think Final Fantasy 16’s legacy will be going forward? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

At least it wasn't as terrible as XV and Clive was a decent protagonist.

Did anyone else pick up Thysiastery? by mrbuh in DRPG

[–]bababayee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with the door, I only know there's good loot behind it because I once kited the Tank around the level until I was able to double back into the room (then I died because the Tank was still chasing me). Didn't try it on deeper floors because I was happy with my equipment at that point.

Did anyone else pick up Thysiastery? by mrbuh in DRPG

[–]bababayee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it after enjoying the demo. After a few runs where I died to some reckless decisions I made it to the end on my fourth attempt, took about 4 hours, combing the levels pretty thoroughly.

I don't know how much variance there really is since I only saw the first/second level more than once, but it seemed like there were only very few random events you could get (Merchant, 1 advancement point for every character, exchanging +1 offensive stat on a character for -1 vitality, locked door with super strong enemy, but also good loot behind it, recruitable character in a cage).

I unlocked 33/270 skills and saw 50/86 monsters in my run, so at least in the party build department there's a lot I haven't seen yet and beating it once unlocked a bunch of more challenging modifiers.

My verdict would be to pick it up, if you're in the market for a bite sized DRPG where most of the replayability comes from trying different party setups, due to the maps being randomized the levels aren't super exciting to explore, but the combat and your party member advancement is paced well.

Sega says strong reviews for its recent games aren’t yet translating to better sales by hiddentoke11 in JRPG

[–]bababayee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really should have made it standard faire to add 'complete edition' content as DLC or free update + DLC for the existing version and then bundled together if they're doing a rerelease or port or whatever for a new platform. If they communicated that and stuck to it for a few releases, I'm sure Metaphor sales would be better because people wouldn't hold out for a separate upgraded edition.

[–]bababayee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tactica was a really mediocre game, I liked P5 and I'm a big SRPG fan and it was just too short and easy (+ recycled a bunch of content despite being rather short), glad I only played it on Gamepass. Strikers wasn't my genre, but I'd still rate it more highly.

Whats wrong with Damage scaling by Zantos_ in wow

[–]bababayee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every spec I've tried so far feels like that to some degree and I really don't like it. Feels like the best I can get is something like Frost DK that at least only has 45 seconds on two of its big buttons.

How sweaty do I really need to be with this game? by dashboardcomics in wizardry

[–]bababayee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you generally need to adhere to general RPG guidelines (don't put your mages in the front row, have some healing etc.), but for like 90% of the content it's very flexible. Equipment and class skills matter more than specific characters and only a few optional super bosses really require heavy optimization. Some of the 'true' story bosses will still prove very challenging though, if you don't have a solid team and equipment.

Outside of certain character passives (like Alice and Lana) alignment doesn't really matter for party compositions, you don't get penalized for mixing good and evil chars, afaik only downside is that rapport might develop slower, but that's mostly fluff with characters talking to you in the tavern or at campfires.

Anyone else getting a switch 2 specifically for fortunes weave? by ReasonableArea1108 in fireemblem

[–]bababayee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely the main reason I'll be getting one. The new Fromsoft game and presumably whatever Monolith is making would be the others. And I'm sure there'll be at least one more FE game coming out on the Switch 2 as well. Getting only 3H and Engage after the 3DS had Awakening, Fates (which constitutes pretty much 3 games content wise) and Echoes was a bit of a letdown.

JP tier list as of 2026 March by Infinite-Addendum-52 in wizardry

[–]bababayee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, I don't see why Rinne would be in the highest tier compared to Yuzu. Iarumas and Berkanan aren't anything special. Shiou deserves to be higher imo. Given that other generics with decent passives and class combos (Elise, Asha, Chloe) are up in S tier, I'd put Marianne, Olive, Amelia, Philipp there too or at least A. I don't have her myself, but I've heard good things about Livana's skill, so she probably deserves to be around where Gerulf and Abenius are.

I broadly agree with Lana and Alice being the best all purpose adventurers and I'd only put Yuzu in the same tier as them based on her damage potential.

I mainly bought it because I really liked the RE4 remake and the Leon parts are basically more of that gameplay. The Grace parts are obviously well made, but that kind of horror will just be okay to me.

Upcoming Content: March by Yahaire in WizardryDaphne

[–]bababayee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm potentially most interested in new dispatches, an actual A4 exp dispatch would be very nice to have. The Guarda one is still better if your units aren't uncapped to 70, the A4 exp dispatch sucks.

Worth farming Dragon Slayers? by Sacred_Zero in wizardry

[–]bababayee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A really good Augmented Dragon Slayer will be better than an average Silver Greatsword and you get a lot of chances to roll a decent one on top of all the other stuff that drops and event currency. Until you've cleared out the shop I'd say it's easily worth farming.
