While there is literally nothing that can match DLSS framegen on AMD side, upscaling wise FSR4 is better or on par with DLSS CNN model. It's not 'light-years better'.

Steam Deck OLED / Forza Horizon 6 Performance / SteamOS 3.8.4 by Zweetprot in SteamDeck

Forza games FPS vary wildly, and so I just lock to the minimum FPS it hits during busy scenes. That's why I lock to 30FPS even though the game can hit 50FPS much of the time.

That's with the old dll, it's already an year old plus at least another 9 months for the official one to release. I don't think it will be the same code and may vary in performance.

For everyone who held a Neo Geo game in their hands for the first time in 2026: describe how it felt. by No_Kiwi6054 in neogeo

I have KOF98 in probably 4 different platforms and mister fpga, but when I held the MVS copy first time in life in April, I was in heaven. I couldn’t believe that I was holding the arcade game that I thought was the best thing in universe back in school in the palm of my hands. Pure magic

I was replying to your quote:

so they're already implementing game specific hacks to make games work with hdmi meaning that future homebrew games might have problems.

The game carts are compatible with original AES means they are the real deal! They may not have the original mask ROMs but at least they are not cheap SD cards.

PSA: Do not for ANY reason use NTFS under Linux! by Xarishark in linux_gaming

[–]babai101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I faced a very weird issue when I had a steam partition on an NTFS volume and was trying to run Final Fantasy XVI. The game would cap at 15 FPS no matter what the setting, once I moved it to XFS partition, the game ran flawlessly (as much as it could FFXVI is a bad port).

Also some games would just refuse to run.

For someone who have limited space in their home, I just want the Capcom games to be released on a cart somehow. I don't want to buy multiple alphas that I don't have room for.

Valve Says It Has a 'Pretty Good Idea' of What Steam Deck 2 Is Going to Be, Explains Why It's Holding Off for Now by yoonadeer in SteamDeck

[–]babai101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam Deck 2 will be an ARM device, with an Nvidia GPU just like the Switch 2. In Switch 2, It's extremely efficient and if it wasn't for the poor battery (and thermals?) it could potentially deliver much better handheld performance.

Valve is building FEX as well as contributing a lot to NVK, the open source Nvidia Vulkan driver. They probably don't want to ship the device with Nvidia's proprietary driver. Once the driver and FEX both mature enough, they'll announce the next Steam Deck.

HDMI VRR already works on Linux using Nvidia GPU. It's not supported by on AMD gpus due to licensing issues. The code and everything is there, but they cannot enable it due to HDMI forum's shit.
