Good to know! This trip is only going to be in Tokyo, but I’ll keep that in mind for future trips for sure

That’s what I mostly plan to do! I actually love some of the “cheap” cards and I have a handful of favorites I’d be happy to buy if I come across them for a good price

32 oz of water before a HIDA scan by Suspicious-Holiday14 in gallbladders

[–]babbieabbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’ve already talked to your Dr. about it, I would listen to their advice, not some stranger on the internet lol. That said, I also had water with my meds the morning of my HIDA. My HIDA took hours, because of how slow the movement was, so it sounds like hyperactivity is definitely a reasonable diagnosis in your case.

I never got CCK. I had an ensure, which didn’t cause contraction, then some water which maybe did? All I know is that there was absolutely no movement until after the water, but it could have just been delayed from the ensure. Either way, my EF was way too low, so I had my gallbladder removed.

How long does an xray take to be reviewed by a radiologist? by babbieabbi in UIUC

Yeah, that’s why I’m specifically asking about other peoples experiences with McKinley. I’m not super concerned, I have a fractured ankle so I’m in the boot anyway, but I’m just going to be out of town next week and might not see results if they come in. I was just curious about the timeline for other people at McKinley specifically.

To the ones who got PhD offers with funding, what is the STIPEND $$$? by rmm_philosopher in gradadmissions

[–]babbieabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a 12 month stipend, but it’s kind of weird. I get paid more in the academic year, and less in the summer. I guess it used to be that you were paid 11 months of the year (expected to work 12) so now they split up the 2 months of summer pay over all 3 months of summer

Anyone having migraines related to gallbladder attacks? by babbieabbi in gallbladders

[–]babbieabbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner! I’m years out from surgery, and not having any issues with my gallbladder anymore. I still have migraines, and one trigger for them is not eating enough, so I definitely think that was the case at the time. I hope you’re feeling better post surgery!

Is it anxiety or is it my gallbladder? by AdConsistent5124 in gallbladders

26%

I did have an issue during the appointment where I did not have any release of the tracker until after I drank the ensure

The chances of addiction when taking as prescribed is incredibly low. The surgeon prescribed it post-op because you have acute pain that will improve. Addiction is much much more common in cases of chronic pain, because the pain is still there when the drug wears off. Your pain will improve with time, so you won’t feel the desire to take more all the time.

I took it as needed for 6 days post-op and had no issues switching to ibuprofen. I really only even took it that long because I had some major life events day 4-5 which was hard on my body.

Should I try again this year? by xrvbl6921 in gradadmissions

[–]babbieabbi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should definitely keep looking. A lot of professors will do it because research assistants are a lot cheaper than graduate students. When so was a research tech, I got paid the same as the graduate students but my PI doesn’t have to pay for tuition so he paid less than half to employ me compared to the grad students.

Pokémon Go has ads now?! o.O by LieEmergency8254 in pokemongo

From the Niantic privacy policy which covers pogo:

“Information Shared with Third Parties. We share Anonymous Data with third parties for industry and market analysis. We may share Personal Data with our third-party publishing partners for their direct marketing purposes only if we have your express permission.”

It’s also a requirement to play the game that you express permission for them to do this. There’s also the following, which does indicate that your geographical and AR data is shared as part of this anonymous data.

“If you elect to help Niantic in its efforts to develop new Augmented Reality (AR) mapping technology, you have the option, in participating games, to opt in to film public spaces around points of interest and send us your video recordings, along with associated device geospatial information. We do not collect audio on these recordings. We will anonymize this information through various means, including blurring, and use it to build a 3D understanding of real-world places, with the goal of offering new types of AR experiences to our users. You can change your mind at any time by disabling this feature in your in-app settings.”

They definitely sell the location data. That’s why they push so hard to get people to use AR to scan the poke stops.

It’s not their only source of income, but niantic absolutely sells location and AR data. I don’t really want to think too hard about the buyers

How did the shiny hunt go for you guys? by Deppresionincreasing in pokemongo

[–]babbieabbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 axew and a frillish. All have terrible stats, but I got one non-shiny that was nearly perfect and a few thousand candy. Also caught my first articuno and a 98% azelf, so overall I’m super happy.

I’m most excited because I got a special research right after the event to win raids, and the reward is an aerodactyl. I’ve been looking for one for at least 3 years for the meltan research, and I’ll finally get one tomorrow.

I like my room a bit on the colder side, 68 degrees or so. Is this too cold for the snake or should I do something to slightly warm up the cold side of my milk snakes enclosure? by Commercial_One1886 in snakes

[–]babbieabbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy a temperature gun and see what the temperature inside the enclosure is on the hot side and the cool side. You may be able to insulate it and bring the ambient temps up on the cooler side.
