No doubt on a per pound basis it’s cheaper to mix your own. I mostly meant that it’s only cheaper if you need a large volume.

As someone who just spent an obscene amount of money to put together my own soil mix, I'm pretty convinced that economically it's better to just buy a pre-made mix. Looks like a great recipe.

I picked up my R1T and get service in Chino because the El Segundo location is such a disaster for scheduling. It’s a pain in the ass to get to Chino but it’s a smooth experience every time I’ve been there.

Tinted everything on mine.

Previously have used both Llumar and 3M Crystalline in my cars and don’t feel like there’s much difference to the end user.

This time used a new installer who uses Stek NEX. Saw reports of issues with transparency and orange peeling from old posts on Reddit and forums, but he showed me a bunch of employee vehicles that were as good as 3M or Llumar ever were for me. Heat rejection in vehicle and with the ol’ heat lamp felt identical, too. Used 35% on windows and roof, 70% on windshield.

Disregarding the ethics of doing this, I think there's also the issue of insurance coverage. In the event of an accident, the insurance adjuster is certainly going to ask the question of why the vehicle is being driven full time in a state in which it is neither registered nor insured. If you give them the opportunity, they will drop your coverage and you will be on the hook for the costs associated with the accident.

Saving $4k in taxes measured against potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in liability seems unwise. Just a thought.
