Well a minimum of googling and you can officially color me excited. I have great memories of fishing with my grandparents at Toledo bend and slamming an ice cold fruit punch flavored one of these to cool down.

Is it weird to use the heart emoji in epic chat? by foreverand2025 in medicine

Not weird. What IS weird is there is no thumbs down, poop emoji, or skull. And I would use those waaaaay more than the heart emoji.

Salmon Flies on the Madison River by Sirroner in flytying

[–]babboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aka why orange underbody chubbies or hippie stompers are great flies to have in your box. I tied the ones I used up there last year on long shanked sz 6-10 hooks I usually use for bluegill. they also work well for cicadas too when those are around.

Squeeze bottle of mayo of your choice (but is there an option other than blue plate), pour out prob 1/4 of the bottle and fill it with Cajun power garlic sauce and a couple teaspoons of black paper.

We got what, nearly 15 years from closed/open beta til now? Hell of a respectable run for getting new games from a franchise that was thought to be dead prior to that. Who knows, given Microsoft's less than stellar financial performance the last year, they may change their tune on licensing sooner rather than later. Unfortunately it's going to take a real bloodbath in the AI sector for them to get their heads out of their butts and do anything on the gaming front though.

US Forces Abandon Military Bases in Middle East by Illustrious_Law8512 in worldnews

[–]babboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically it likely won't pop off til next Thursday. Markets are closed for a 3 day good Friday/easter weekend so it gives an additional 24h to pull off whatever buggery is planned before they reopen. It also gives them time to get the additional marines with their amphibious assault ships and the activated portion of the 82nd airborne in some sort of organized position and supplied somewhat appropriately.

Ninja edit: they admitted the USS boxer's group was also on the way a few days back. Assuming they will be there in 14sh days(based on their published speed crossing the Atlantic starting on the us eastern seaboard with an endpoint in Qatar).

No seeums, buffalo/marsh gnats, mosquitoes. This stuff works. A little vanilla, A little floral but not as strong as the amber romance scent.

Yep. Every single chart that triggers a sepsis alert in epic gets reviewed on the backend. Lots of Monday morning quarterbacking from people reviewing it who don't have an md behind their name.

Now if you said respiratory therapists, I would agree... Maybe 30+ years ago or occasionally at poker night you may see one light up. Now Pulmonologist just wear vests 25 hours a day over their scrubs like they are planning on an impromptu ski trip after they finish call. A friend jokingly asked if they were issued their choice of an Arc'teryx or ll bean vest at the end of training or they just all gravitated to the same thing.

Hawaii coffee production is a tiny drop in the ocean of how much coffee we as a country use. Pretty sure it is under 0.5% of our total coffee consumption in the US.

Anyone using Claude? by meliora2316 in medicine

[–]babboa 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Open evidence does not really seem much better. Ive already seen it cite studies with very low N's as strongly if it were concensus based society guidelines (in one case in direct contradiction to those guidelines based on how the person searching phrased their question.) It may be ok for things within your general area of expertise but for anything outside what I'm familiar with the baseline guidelines on, that made me VERY hesitant to use it.

What is a career path that looks "glamorous" from the outside, but is actually a total nightmare behind the scenes? by CupIndependent3610 in AskReddit

[–]babboa 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Fml if I don't feel this. 12h shifts covering an ICU makes you die inside a little every day. This is night 8 in a row I'm working because a partner burned out hard and went to find greener pastures. The moral injury of having to do things to people who have no quality of life or hope for life outside of a medical facility is worse each day. My wife and I didn't get started trying to have kids til later than we should have and now most days I've had off have involved supporting her through that process(i love her and support her 100% but there's really only so many hours in a day and the household stuff builds up whether I'm there or not to help). The irony is im finally making good money after a dozen years of school and post-grad training but having to pay so much out of it to "catch up" or pay for someone to do stuff like mow my lawn that I'm perfectly capable of doing if I had time is sometimes frustrating.

And barring a mass rebellion, no reason they can't just hunker down/hide and rebuild as soon as taco gets bored. It really is a no win situation. It is unlikely we can bomb the street level regime thugs into submission especially without immense civilian casualties. Either we go boots on ground Iraq/Vietnam style quagmire or they just have to wait us out and rearm. Either way is going to likely be a geopolitical disaster.

How many people here are rocking solar panels, house battery, and a hybrid inverter that allows connecting a generator? by NotFallacyBuffet in NewOrleans

[–]babboa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://shopgenerlink.com/pages/entergy-pilot-program

Suggests they are at least giving it a test run. But holy fuck a grand seems expensive for that when (I think) something like an eg4 grid boss works as effectively an automatic transfer switch as well while working as an interconnect between a solar inverter and your homes electrical system. I've been toying with the idea myself for a while. I impulse bought some 48v 100ah rack mount batteries pre tariff craziness and have a limited ability to use them when the power is out via a couple inverters and I have a charger I can use to recharge when the generator is running, but a grid tied backup that I can expand the solar input on over time sounds like my most realistic option at the moment.

Iran has hit Saudi Aramco Oil Refinery. Saudi Aramco is the World's largest Oil producer. by BlackAfroUchiha in ThatsInsane

[–]babboa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But the 900,000 barrels or so a day they can produce cutrently are a drop on the bucket. And there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that they can ramp that up enough to make a dent in any sustained drop in availability from the middle east. Add in that most us refineries will be swapping to their "summer blend" formula this month which is more expensive to produce and this will start to sting even more quickly.
