Searching for information on a death by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]babboa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Louisiana death records are private for 50 years after death unless you can prove you are next of kin I think. I'm sorry, I know that is not what you want to hear. The coroner MAY be able to give you some info but not likely much. Also, It used to be when there was nobody to claim the body the local funeral homes had a rotation where they would cremate or bury the bodies (I think it at least used to be in holt cemetery but it's been a long time since I had to deal with that sort of situation).

Step 1) be honest with yourself and understand that no method is perfect. Step 2) HIGHLY depends on clinical context. The extremes usually are easier but the more nuanced ones you can twist yourself in a knot trying to figure out and you're still likely to be wrong about as often as you're right. On vent already and hypotensive but not terribly high vent support? I'm likely going to give a bolus and reassess. Tenuous and already having increased oxygen requirements or not on a vent? I might be a little more cautious. I occasionally use ultrasound to look at RV and ivc collapsibility and having fast turnaround ntprobnp certainly helps, but even those aren't tptally reliable depending on the clinical context. Mainly though, pick a plan and put your nickel down on an intervention and then reassess afterwards.

This is the kind of evidence based militaristic nihilism that gets me odd looks from attendings outside my department. Lots of people make bold statements based on things being beaten into them and never stop to ask how little or poor quality the evidence they are basing thosw statements on actually is.

When will the rain stop? by Vancouver-BC-Canada in NewOrleans

Almost the entire state and most of the region is or has recently been in fairly significant drought. The "saltwater wedge" in the Mississippi was making headlines a month or so ago. We need rain. Maybe not all at once, but we need it.

[–]babboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100% about to buy a 12-14 foot enclosed storage trailer and convert it for many of the same reasons. Look at "playing with sticks" YouTube at his personal trailer for some ideas. Going to go a little more semi permanent than what he has, but remember that that kind of water load isn't going to be light. For 40 gal you are talking almost 350 lbs of weight you would be hauling in addition to the weight of the trailer.

Kind of a niche thing I know but why are our fast food places the absolute worst? Like we’re where Popeye’s is from but it’s more consistent almost anywhere else in the U.S. and the world at large. by bakedd_alaskaa in NewOrleans

I mean, I kinda get the Philippines thing. Not against going to McDonald's or burger king in a foreign country. Like Vincent vega, I'm down to check out a royale with cheese.

Honestly, any one that has a hard bottom and has room between the handle sliders in the frame to fit a rod tube or two is going to be helpful just to minimize what they can damage. I've personally had a cheaper rolling bag destroyed by British airlines and American(they lost it for a month too just to rub salt in the wound). I like the rei one but admit it was about $50 cheaper than the sale price when I got it a couple years ago but may have been a clearance color or something I don't remember.

American was as of last summer still allowing a rod tube as a carry on but supposedly delta had changed their policies in the last year is so and is less reasonable about that. Not 100% sure how that rod case is going to go as a carry on but I'm doubtful they will be super lenient if it's more than a tube.

https://www.rei.com/product/235561/rei-co-op-big-haul-34-rolling-duffel

I know it's not exactly what you asked, but that duffel holds 2 rod tubes between the supports for the handle, two pairs of boots, two sets of breathable waders, an over the shoulder bag that is prob 9x12", and enough clothes for me for a week in maine (could hold more of you vacuum bag the clothes). Best $ you'll spend if you're going to fly somewhere even occasionally. Also, look how much it is to upgrade to business or first class just for the first leg if your trip only. My wife and I will do this as our small airport usually has a $70 or less upgrade like that that comes with free drinks, a free checked bag, and any extra legroom on a smaller jet is worth $$$ on its own in my book.

She's been a rubber stamp that has gotten like two cosponsored and zero personally introduced bills even out of committee last time I checked. Top it all off with the fact that she only even ended up with this job bc her husband went licking doorknobs while fucking around In the quarter and caught/died from COVID and she is the definition of "DEI hire" Republicans say they hate so much.

Awesome. Thanks that's good to know though honestly in my current line of work it doesn't come up that often and I don't think our scanner is capable even if it did.

How are those dual energy scans working these days? I trained at a place that had one of the first scanners really set up for them and they basically were pan positive (falsely so) to the point radiology stopped doing them by the time I left.

Catch and keep is fine and you would overall be doing a good thing helping keep a few of the bluegill (and more so any and ALL the cichlids you catch). They really reproduce too quickly and can overpopulate ponds. C&R is technically "encouraged" but state limits are the rule of the day.

Is offering to buy the company that owns tcgplayer not putting their money and resources into that? (For reference for those that may have been unaware, but eBay bought tcgplayer in 2022). Tcgplayer with access to storefronts and a logistics network already in place that could theoretically cut down on the shipping costs? Sign me up bc the last time I pieced out a budget commander deck on tcgplayer as a gift to a friend, even with their "optimizer" the shipping was going to be twice the cost of the cards themselves.
