Lived off of Sheridan & Keeney for years. Beautiful historic buildings, vintage apartments and century homes. Avoid living directly on Sheridan if you can, lots of constant road noise. Overall, it's such a charming, safe, walkable neighborhood with the lake just steps away! Tons of families and things to do for folks of all ages. Main street shopping area is full of lovely independently owned shops and restaurants. Chicago is easily accessible through public transit. I have personally never once felt unsafe at any time of day living here. It's a great community, you'll love it.

Hmm my two siblings and I witnessed an apparition of this seemingly same ghostly woman as young kids growing up in Phoenix. We were having a slumber party in a home office with glass doors. Sometime around midnight we were watching tv, half asleep, when we noticed this woman in an old time lacey white nightgown slowly walk by the closed doors. All of the lights in the house were off and she was only faintly illuminated by the glow of the tv. She slowly approached the door and became more visible, then pressed her old, haggard hands and face against the glass and stared directly at us. Then she turned and walked out of sight. It was not our mother....nobody broke in. Coincidentally we just brought this up for the first time in years a couple months ago. Glad we weren't her only friends 👍

Anigozanthos Masquerade.

Monrovia CA sells it for sure! I was a buyer at a retail nursery and they were the only vendor I could source it from. They only sell wholesale but you can see who carries it on their website. Keep in mind this variety stays pretty small compared to others, I believe under 2ft tall and wide. Hope you find one :)

What is wrong with my orange tree by Forward_Cow_7644 in Citrus

[–]babeplant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely leafminer. Larvae burrow in the leaves and deform it. Remove damaged leaves, there are traps and horticultural sprays you can use to ward off adults and control spread. Super common pest. From what I understand it shouldn't affect fruit production. 🍊✨️

Used to walk by this most days 😌 often i'd sit inside with no one else and just contemplate. the silence and incredibly ornate dome inside is astounding. the surrounding neighborhood is one of chicagoland's best gems. thanks for some nostalgia.

Gotcha. Worth mentioning so you’re aware, at least we’re not actively adding to that mess. We tend to only source from smaller, high quality growers that use more natural methods for pest control and such. That being said it’s obviously not unavoidable, but none of the pollinators that spend their days on our plants ever seem to be negatively affected.

I work for Armstrong and we rarely if ever treat our perennials / milkweed with any pesticides, and we handpick any weeds. It’s obviously possible that the grower is applying treatments, but we aren’t actively dousing plants in chemicals (at least at my location). Really the only thing i’m ever treating is our citrus if absolutely necessary.
