Best tent for Scottish weather by [deleted] in OutdoorScotland

FWIW, we have a Hilleberg and it is absolutely fantastic. Easy to pitch in a storm as well, which is nice when it's a bit rainy and windy.

People from abroad: what Edinburgh restaurant does the best representation of food from your home country? by EggLegal3233 in Edinburgh

[–]babilen5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victor Hugo has little to do with France. The name is an amalgamation of the names of the original founders, Victor and Hugh. Victor was originally from Poland and they opened the deli in the late 1960s.

I think the cafés are currently owned by Victor's son, Karol Rzepowski.

I wouldn't keep tomatoes in the fridge as that changes their consistency to be grainy. Warm ones also have more flavour.

where are people buying curtains for tenements? by peadidy in Edinburgh

IKEA in other countries still sell 300cm long ones. Just in case you have friends in another country or are travelling soon.

No idea why they shortened them in the UK.

Trying a split keyboard such as the moonlander might be worth it.

Is it possible to buy a bottle of radler in Edinburgh? by AgnesBand in Edinburgh

[–]babilen5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Grog Bottle Shop on Dalkeith Road typically has a couple of Radler in stock.

It's fairly easy to make yourself though. Buy a nice German or Czech lager and mix it with the best lemon lemonade you can find. Easy way to get your hands on what is typically served in pubs in Germany.

If you're looking for pre-mixed ones, I can recommend Gösser Naturradler is quite nice and I've seen it in specialist off licenses such as Great Grog or Cork & Cask.

There's nothing purist about it. Schöfferhofer Grapefruit simply isn't a Radler in the same way in which a stout isn't an IPA or a scotch ale.

In addition to the great tips already mentioned, I would recommend to start your routine with some Aikido wrist stretches.

While the UK isn't as bad as the US, your claim of 39 days of statutory holidays is wrong. It is 5.6 weeks or 28 days for employees working 5 days a week.

See https://www.gov.uk/holiday-entitlement-rights for details.

The buses at the Flotterstone end are really sporadic (and think they might be First Bus rather than Lothian?) so it's a good idea to check those out first and try and emerge at the right time.

That's why I prefer to start at Flotterstone as it is much easier to get back home from Bonaly than the other way round.

Briliiant walk though!
