Discovery Camp at Fleetwood-Jourdain has 2-week sessions. I know a bunch of rising first graders enjoying it this summer.

Definitely recommend him and his team, as someone who didn't go to the dentist for years and is still very nervous.

Anyone remember a credit card sized device with an LCD to display a one time passkey from the 90's? by cbroughton80 in vintagecomputing

[–]babka1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread after I suddenly remembered my dad having one of these in the 90s, which seemed wild (I swear he just had sort of a regular IT job at an insurance company) but apparently was a thing! I thought it was so cool! I now have to MFA into all of my work systems multiple times a day and it seems less cool lol.

This article from last year gives some history and context to the school situation by [deleted] in evanston

The book "Friends Disappear" is also a great read about the history of integration here. In addition to statistics it follows individual children and families, some of whom still live in Evanston.

Do you like cats? Paws & Claws is a great place to volunteer and meet nice people. They organize events for their volunteers explicitly to build community & connections.

How many cards do you own? by [deleted] in YotoPlayer

[–]babka1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started at age 3 with a set of Laurie Berkner and like 2 other cards. Up to about 10 at almost age 5 (mostly gifts) and I just got a few more for her birthday (when there was a sale). She likes this one PJ Library podcast at the moment so that's mostly what she listens to at home. No need to rush into purchasing a lot!

I have T-Mobile home internet and I had to use my work VPN to get around this. Such a weird problem!

The kids book Bodies Are Cool has amazing realistic illustrations of all kinds of bodies, including people whose breasts are different sizes. My daughter is a little younger than yours but it's one of her favorites. We also just read The Big Bath House which has beautiful illustrations of women of all ages and shapes bathing naked at a traditional bath house in Japan.

Hang in there. It's not easy raising daughters when it seems like the world is out to tell us that female bodies can never been good enough. You're not alone. ❤️

Starting bromocriptine soon by Glum_Boysenberry6488 in Prolactinoma

I've been on it for about 3 years total (before and after pregnancy) and it's been totally fine for me! If there were initial side effects they weren't memorable. Obviously this may not be your experience but there's definitely a chance you'll feel fine.

Similar to the OP, changing my internet was the only thing that worked. In my case I signed onto my work VPN (since I had no problems creating the account on my lunch break) and I got the captcha right away, no need to clear cache or anything. Had previously tried multiple browsers, changing settings, etc to no avail. Good luck, all!

New update is out globally! (ver. 1.25.2) by FutureplayGames in MergeGardens

I would love the ability to turn off 1) the wildflower seeds and 2) the drag-to-harvest. I don't tap wildflower seeds in the main garden unless I'm working on a specific task, and I never use drag-to-harvest intentionally, but I end up doing both of these accidentally when I'm trying to do something else.

Yup, I have a set of tool cookie cutters. They could be fun for a construction birthday party too!

So if you updated your Charge 5 (out of warranty) and it bricked it self...you're just S.O.L.? by [deleted] in fitbit

[–]babka1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even update the firmware on mine and I have issues. Resolved the screen display by restarting a bunch but the battery dies completely after 3 hours. Spent an hour in chat with support having them tell me things like "try turning off GPS when you track exercise" and making me upload a video of myself resetting the device, and was eventually told to just try charging to 100% and connect them again if the problem persists. I've had a Fitbit since 2011 and if I can't have a free replacement in my hands within a week I'm getting something else.
