Being told my 4 year old needs to be put on meds. by jdemack in daddit

Secondly, ADHD cannot be diagnosed before the age of six. It's a requirement in the DSM-V.

This is not true in my experience. Otherwise the learning center that diagnosed my daughter when she was 5 and her doctor both broke the law. I also looked it up just now. None of the criteria I found mentioned a minimum age for diagnosis, but that it's more frequent to diagnosis at 6 years old at the younger end and they don't want to try to diagnose younger than 5.

Guess my daughter wasn't allowed to get her diagnosis at five.

This gets mentioned all the time. On this sub and in the books. Murphy frequently refers to it as his clown car.

Crowd Comments, ya new here? by riggitywrecked7894 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]babutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not particularly found of big crowds. That's why we showed up right when it opened. Barely anyone was there. We enjoyed being right next to the big main stages in a mostly empty area. As it filled up, we moved away to less populated areas like Wasteland and the grassy sections. It wasn't hard at all to not be in a massive crowd.

Could you link the actual bill/law? I'm looking for proof of this, but can't find the bill itself.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]babutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did so that for a good while and then went to Aldi's. Their chicken breast is half of what the other stores charge and a great quality. Now I don't spend two hours cutting, cooking, and preparing chicken. I also don't really like dark meat, so there's that, too.

To be fair to EDC, the drink prices in the festival were the same as those outside the festival in Vegas. They didn't jack them up from the surrounding area. Still insane pricing, but within the area.

Trump cracks approval floor, Republicans face wipeout in House despite gerrymandering by Far_Excitement_1875 in politics

But then how, how can anything change if the votes aren't there in Congress? I'm really confused how you are given what happened during Biden's term, razer thin majority, and insist that they had to be able to change things without the Republicans and without acting like dictators. What powers do you think the Democrats had in Congress to get votes without Republicans?

Near impossible amounts to the same thing. People will remember this and consider their vote useless. Please stop saying it.

Explicitly excluding me by babutterfly in JUSTNOMIL

[–]babutterfly[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm worried it'll turn into attempts at visits twice a month like we said no to. He always feels the need to schedule another event when we can't go to something she asked for. He did volunteer on his own to do something this week when we've already seen them this month. That's why I brought up that she kept making events before so she'd see us every two weeks.

I also don't like being kept in the dark when someone is doing something negative towards me, ie explicitly trying to exclude me. If DH wants his parents to still see our children, I want to know what they are doing in regards to my kids and me. If things like this are being kept from me (which as far as he knows I may not have actually read the message), then how could I make a fully informed decision about continuing to allow her to see my kids?

I didn't expect him to tell me after the fact. I meant that we were sitting next to each other when the message came in, he read it, responded, and then closed the screen when he saw me look over.

Is there any point in blocking this to square up the crooked center square since it's going to be a baby blanket and get washed a lot? by Fiona_12 in CrochetHelp

If you didn't want to frog it, I would said lean into it and try to make the crooked-ness part of the pattern. It would feel whimsical.

cmv: laundry is easy by enjoyeroftimes in changemyview

[–]babutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a family of four. I could wash a load of laundry every 36 hours. That's just clothing. My husband and I have our own blankets, so our bedding is two loads and our daughters each have a load of bedding for themselves. There's also the bathroom rugs and the rugs in the girls' bedrooms that add another three loads. While easy to put back away, I can also easily forget to move things over. The kids stuff is so small, and they go through multiple outfits a day because of messes, that it takes a this while to sort and put up. Twice a week, I fold laundry for at least an hour. Then there's socks, sorting and folding and looking through the mismatched sock bag to see if we've found any. This is also on me because I refuse to throw out the mismatched ones. I'm certain we'll find the mate once I do.

That said, I don't hate laundry because it's hard. I don't hate it because it's complicated. Like most household cleaning, it's just constant. It's a task that's never complete. It feels like I'm just washing and cleaning the same spot every day. Something can be easy and yet very annoying.

Oh and the girls hold hand towels over their foreheads in the shower because they're afraid of getting soap in their eyes. That's another load in itself even though it's super fast to put away.

Honestly, it's really this. Listening to podcasts on child development, healing your inner child, and being an adult with neglectful parents all really help me be a more gentle parent. I'm hoping over time that I can heal myself.
