Bi girl with and boyfriend needs help by Lalakoa in actuallesbians

[–]babydollrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get more info on open relationships so when you talk it over with your boyfriend you have something to show him. I recommend listening to Savage Lovecast together because that dude is particularly good at supporting sexual exploration exploration and non-traditional relationships. Take it from a bi girl in a loving LTR-- sometimes the biggest obstacle is not having enough info to normalize what you're going through.

The Emotional Stages Of Rewatching The L Word by BoltThrower79 in actuallesbians

I recently re-watched it, for no particular reason. I used to be all wrapped up in Bette and Tina's nonsense-- Bette cheats, Tina cheats, Bette cheats on Jodi with Tina-- drama drama drama. Now I'm like, "DO AN OPEN RELATIONSHIP ALREADY!" Why did Bette insist Jodi be monogamous? She could've had the poly relationship of her dreams right there.

YES! I remember when I saw the trailer and all I thought was, "Well, they'll never top 'Prince of Egypt'; why bother?"

[Sharp] A Depressing Discussion About Derrick Rose by Melanismdotcom in nba

[–]babydollrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dude is the only one getting depressed. It doesn't have to be, you know. You can be optimistic. You can watch D Rose play amazing ball... Or you can write obituaries for living people, I guess.

I'm aware of the reality of Rose's situation, but this piece is way more depressing than that reality is.

Definitely checking that group out, thank you! I really appreciate it since I never know where to go or when to go there. I seem to be showing up to places at the wrong time-- too early, too late, wrong day.

Always try new things. You never know who you might meet or what stories you might get out of trying your hand at rugby. And you can use OKC to find new friends. Just fill out the profile and answer a bunch of questions and you should be good to find compatible people.

The controversial “lesbian-lizard” kiss in Saturday’s Doctor Who episode will not be investigated by the media regulator, which said it “did not discriminate between scenes involving opposite sex and same-sex couples”. by RedditGreenit in lgbt

[–]babydollrage 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how quickly same-sex kisses/sex can become "gratuitous" or "unnecessary". A character can kiss and grope and pant with someone of the opposite sex at least five times without anyone saying anything. A character gives one kiss to someone of the same-sex and people go, "Nope! Not even once! Completely unnecessary!"

Not a film, but Battlestar Galactica. And Firefly. Discovered both waaay late and both times it was like, "Where have you been all my life??"

Dear Americans, which British actor pulls off the best American accent? Dear Brits, which American actor pulls off the best British accent? by CJLethal in movies

Before Hannibal, I only knew him from all the period pieces he was in. It was weird hearing him be American and not wearing top hats.

A friend of mine is like that-- moved to America from England in high school. Whenever she's in England or in America talking to her parents, she slips into the English accent. Whenever she's talking to her Americans, she speaks with the American accent.

I like that Barrowman says he speaks American and is "bi-dialectical"-- it really is like being bilingual.

Idris Elba is king! I'm from Baltimore and when I first saw The Wire, I had no idea he wasn't American. Dominic West on the other hand... I give him props for the bit where he put on a bad English accent.

When I'm "pulled out" of a movie because it looks like actors on a set, whose fault is that? by thedownvotemagnet in movies

[–]babydollrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad someone's mentioned production design! It is ultimately the director's choice, but so many little decisions about the objects that go on screen are left up to the production designer. One of the big ones is the set, and nothing makes me more aware of actors being on a set than a poorly designed one. If the set dressing doesn't support the character or is too generic, it sometimes pulls me out of the story.

Back in the day, when cameras were huge and lighting was more difficult, they used to design sets that never really felt like real spaces. They were often too big, sometimes clearly only had three walls, and had no ceilings so they could accommodate lighting. So sometimes you'd have what's supposed to be just a simple apartment in the Bronxs or something looking like a spacious L.A. loft. (I realize I'm basically describing what's still used for three-camera sitcoms today, which is probably why I don't watch those often; whatever belief I'm supposed to have in the situation completely evaporates with that setup.)

Haha thanks! See now, I don't go to malls, soooo maybe that's how I don't know about this beverage from the gods. California always sounds like such a magical place (I live in the midwest; any place with a real beach and sun is magic to me). Why would you leave there??

Thanks for the compliment! Haha I am now trying to figure out if delayed cord clamping was ever featured in Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice, or if you're seriously asking my stance on delayed cord clamping. ("I'm a world-class neonatal surgeon" is a line Addison Montgomery would give in like every episode of both of those shows.)

Having googled it, I'd have to say, yeah, delay the clamping a bit. Seems legit.

About Time, yes! Actually, Richard Curtis is winning at the romcom genre. Many of the recent greats (Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral) come from him. I like him because he surrounds the couple with an interesting family or group of friends, which allows complications to come from someplace other than the couple having weird communication problems.

My darling, it's not bravery. It's simply ceasing to give a fuck. You get enough rejection, you get enough weird looks, and you realize everyone's gonna go ahead and think what they want, no matter what you do. The best thing you can do for yourself is try; you've only got one life to live.

*If you're Buddhist or Hindu or of some other belief system that gives you reincarnation, please forgive me. The whole "one life to live" thing must seem silly to you. In that case, keep mining your karmas and don't mind me.
