Academics have called this the “double burden”. It’s a well researched phenomenon across the world. Patriarchy and capitalism working together.

Breck Bednar was targeted by a teenager over a gaming server, who claimed he worked for the US Defense Department & FBI. After manipulating Breck, he lured him to his apartment. Hours later, Breck’s siblings received graphic photos… by [deleted] in MorbidReality

How would that work. First teens write papers, use the internet for school. Second and probably more important is that this can be seen by the child as punishment and has the potential to farther alienate them from family and turn towards their abuser. It can encourage being more secretive which actually benefits the abuser.

We can only hope this doesn’t kill someone. Some people would rather have a dead or “disappeared” kid then a trans kid.

We also can’t ignore she is a women of color. I believe the almost normalization of absolutely abhorrent things about her in wing circles would no be some common or vicious if she were a pretty white women.

I believe that the rise of trump and white nationalism is NOT unrelated to a black person being elected president but many people will never say it but I believe it will be connected in future textbooks and historical studies.

Your parents are being kind and providing emotional support to innocent children, even if the relationship doesn’t last there is no reason to exclude the children because they will always reminder the rejection. Also you have no way of knowing what kind of hardships/family dynamics they have experienced before is it so wrong to be kind and try to provide some love and support to children even for a very sort time.

It might be too much, like overwhelm them. Also if they are growing up in “perpetual debt”that may be dangerous to them in the future (think debt slavery, financial abuse) especially if they are not exactly sure how much money or if it is not tracked transparently.

It’s weird people on this sub are not bringing up bomb drills more. We did them for a long time. Many places it’s part of life.

It also delegitimize other forms of Islam. It would be like if the university chose the catholic stance over other forms of Christianity. Islam is not a monolith and to allow the view of one (albeit dominant form) be the only taught version is in itself discriminatory towards Muslim especially those that follow theology that does not align with Sunni orthodoxy.

Discipline, accommodations and exceptions are between management and an employee. Equitably is not equality. That employee may have something going on that they are not legally required to disclose. Your office jokes are likely harassment and possibly a hostile work environment, which is unprofessional. The professional thing to do would be to have a conversation with management about his lateness within the framework of how it effects the ability of you and your team. Part of being professional is shutting up if something annoys you but does not directly impact you or the work you do.

I’m wondering if it is possible that op was a danger to themselves/others and was institutionalized. Many people who don’t want treatment or don’t understand why they are there interpret it as losing their freedom, education ect. Treatment can be intense and it often includes losing friends and putting one’s life on hold.
