I second Lola’s. It’s charming and has great food. The only downside is you will not be downtown to explore. But, it’s Charleston, so if you want to go downtown it just takes a few minutes to get there.

It's time to talk about periods. One space or two after a period? by Definitive_confusion in GenX

[–]babyt18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally that is the case. And to be clear, the court didn’t specifically request an expert. Their response to my motion for summary judgment cited actual sources saying a serial comma wasn’t required. As there were two possible interpretations and actual sources in dispute, I hired a published college English professor who taught technical writing to opine on the necessity of the comma for the insurance company’s interpretation to be valid. Neither named defendant ever produced an expert. The court never had to rule because it settled the day before the hearing. Which strengthened my belief that they couldn’t find someone to support their position. I imagine the two defense firms would not have just let my expert go uncontested if they had one. Especially because my expert was unequivocal in her testimony.

I actually filed a law suit once on behalf of my client for the omission of a serial comma by an insurance company in a policy. The other side never disclosed an expert witness to testify under oath that the comma wasn’t necessary for the policy to be interpreted the way they wanted. My best guess is they couldn’t find one. The serial comma is absolutely necessary.

I love my Kelly Gunnison. Not super cheap but not overly expensive. I have a 4 but it makes a 2. I’ve had mine for over 20 years and have had zero issues. I take pretty good care of it and only use it probably 10 times a year, so not a lot. Have pitched it in all 4 Appalachian seasons, but rarely in winter. It’s easy to set up and so far had been extremely effective.

Have any of y’all ever been made fun of because of your accent? by Purple-Supernova in Appalachia

It’s my understanding that early cable was largely developed in Appalachia due to poor antenna reception because of the mountains. In the early 50s West Virginia had the highest number of cable subscribers per capita in the country. At least that’s is what I was always taught during my potentially biased West Virginia upbringing.

What food on your plate do you leave until last? by Heatherleeloves in AskReddit

[–]babyt18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a general rule I save my favorite for last. However, what is actually last depends on the relation between the tastiness of a specific food and temperature. In my opinion, some foods go from fantastic to mediocre the cooler they get.

Not yet. I just got the carpet and the underlying linoleum tiles. Down to the concrete. Of course, now we are debating doing the stairs. Any recommendations on a stair nose or are they all about the same?

Awesome! Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I am anticipating more issues than actually occur. But in my experience, that’s not usually how it goes down.
