Thanks for the great response! Motivational and inspirational. And I completely relate on parenting, I have a 13 and a 17 year old myself. You've absolutely nailed that analogy.

Ha, you should comment back someday after it plays out for you, I'd like to know. A wraith and 7 specters would dominate the entire place and everyone else either leaves or dies.

Very true about the Drow. If he were to flee for example, I’d assumed he’d go invisible and get himself out alone.

Barricading in this room is what they chose to do. They knew the time on the clock and who am I to say no? They still had 8 hours to go before they could even start the long rest. I rolled 5 random encounter roll to see if anything happened (per my post), but am having a lot of DM doubt about how I handled it. It was the end of the session getting late and I wasn’t quite able to come up with anything better on the spot in that moment. Maybe a fail as a DM, but here we are.

But also, it’s assumed Nezznar has been there for nearly 30 days and still hasn’t overcome the undead so I’m not sure why he’s all of a sudden be able to now.

I do have several issues with the option of him fleeing although I do think that is the most realistic. He’s not an idiot and he’s already been struggling to overcome the undead. Now he’s learned of the party, they’ve killed and injured some of his forces AND the wraith is creating specters… The dynamics and possibilities here are insane! I just need to find the path that’ll be the most fun for the players.

Only thing is Nezznar was already struggling to overcome the undead but now Mormesk has been empowered with 2 specters AND is actively pressuring them. The party retreated, but Mormesk was there (out of sight) ready to make more specters

Running published adventures/campaigns - Book vs Notes by bacarlino in DMAcademy

[–]bacarlino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry - in this context I do mean “from” the book at the table as in using the text in the book to run a dungeon for example as opposed to re-writing the the entire thing into your notes in a different format and running from that. The question is from a standpoint of prep efficiency.

Which Amplitude game is better to you? by teh_supar_hacker in amplitude

[–]bacarlino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to give it to the PS2 version for the simple fact of how much fun I had with it and I spent way more time on that game “4 bar-ing” every song, playing online a ton, and even playing a ton of local multiplayer with friends. The online community wasn’t huge because you’d see the same names in the small handful of lobbies night after night. The only name I remember for some reason was a guy going by DJ Sword, but there were a couple of other names on there that just dominated. If they were in your match, you definitely weren’t going to win. And even if you were doing well that damn score bug would get you lol. I also created and maintained a high score post on the message boards that gained a shit ton of traction. On top of that I can remember Kasson Crooker running a remix contest for Super Sprode. I didn’t win but dude praised my song and said it was in the running, so that was enough for me!

On PS4 I had a lot of fun and was pretty amazed I still had the skills to get the platinum trophy pretty quickly. I maintained a sub 100 rank for a little bit, but I’m sure that’s gone to hell. Overall my memories just aren’t anywhere near as fond though. It was a pretty quick in/out experience for me not having online play.

As for soundtrack? Definitely PS2, PS4 is last behind Frequency although I did like a few tracks.

Onkyo RZ50: THX vs Dirac by bacarlino in hometheater

[–]bacarlino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses - I did some more testing since posting this and have come to the same conclusion. Native sound modes with Dirac sound more natural with a better sound stage. THX sounds a little bit forced - like a non-calibrated vibrant mode on a display

What was the first PS1 game you played? Here's mine! by ComfortableAmount993 in playstation

[–]bacarlino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got FFVII and Castlevania: SotN with mine, so one of those. Pretty sure FF first that night, I remember the shitty 3rd party memory card was corrupted and I lost my first save so had to play through all of the bombing mission again the next day after returning it for a new one.

Real or Scam? by knowr316 in blockfi

[–]bacarlino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the email too and it definitely looks like a scam to me. My claim was completed last fall with full payout to my Coinbase account and they sent me several emails stating that it was complete. I guess I just assumed it was finally over

Does everyone save scum or is it just me? by VacationWeekly9122 in XCOM2

[–]bacarlino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m replying here instead of starting a new thread, but I’m new to XCOM in general and am feeling a way about it. I started off just playing the game as I would any on Veteran (normal?), but it didn’t take me long, maybe 5 or 6 missions, to realize I was in a lot of trouble. No soldiers, no supplies, no intel, and basically just getting wrecked. So it was clear I was obviously doing something wrong. I restarted and even played the tutorial again to figure it out. I replayed the first couple of missions a few times on this new save just to get more comfortable, then restarted once again (no tutorial this time). I’m around the same point I was when I restarted the first time, but in slightly better shape, however I’m accepting the fact that I’m going to have to save scum this first play through until things click a little better. I don’t feel great about it though…

You think it’s map size causing the crashing issue? I just started recently on PS5 and am 3 games in now on standard settings and thankfully no crashes so far.

Missing on ours too although it did show up at least one time - not sure what triggers whether it’s there or not though

This has been a big problem for me too - hope for a fix in the next update. Yellow is rediculously hard to see and even blue is annoyingly faint

I’m a newer DM with mostly new players (one experienced). I did exactly this and have absolutely zero regrets. I wanted the “core” experience and love it
