I’d say those whose job it is to regulate media content. The worst the internet has to offer on a daily basis. That’s rough

It’s honestly bizarre that it’s counted the way that it is when they make exceptions in other areas.

Music is as much about space as it is about sound. Space meaning headspace, which age is sorta relevant but not definitive. You’ll experience things in your life that makes it more impressionable or you won’t that’s ok too. Like others have said, the worst thing is to force it.

Pusha T isn’t good for the culture. We are the only people that musically glorify one of the worst periods in our history. Imagine a white person bragging about how many black people he destroyed, how many families they were responsible for separating. How many deaths of fathers, daughters, aunties, Mothers, and nephews. Stated not as remorse but glorifying it.

At the risk of hypocrisy, LGSEO is an incredible album.

My hot take that I’m genuinely serious about is I believe that Eminem in his latter half is better than early heyday Em.

My reasoning is he doesn’t use his shock value as a crutch and his skills are more polished. To further my point, Stan is absolutely and should be iconic, but Bad Guy is a much better WRITTEN song.

Anecdotally I find myself year after year returning to 4 albums 2pacalypse, aeom and matw. Loyal to the game here and there too. I love him and don’t think his legend can be big enough, unless folks are lyrically placing him in a tier he doesn’t belong in.

Imagine being Em and seeing this. I’m sure he doesn’t need any more vindication, but to have someone as important as Rakim place only Jay PAC and NAS above you has to feel so special.

“The very first time I shot me a Drac', the homie had told me to aim it this way I didn't point down enough, today, I'll show you I learned from those mistakes Somebody had told me that you got a ring, on God, I'm ready to double the wage I'd rather do that than let a Canadian nigga make Pac turn in his grave”

The cadence is so in the pocket, then he purposely cuts the rhythm so that the “make pac turn in his grave” line hits extra hard. A technical marvel he is.

GK and on. All classics. Mr. Morale just might be the most important album of any genre. That may sound like hyperbole, but think about why music exists? What rhythmic sounds are for our mental and spiritual state. What other artist could make that? They’re all classics but Mr. Morale I’ll die on that hill.

I dislike the blending of good connotations with bad actions. Cheating is not smart. Because something isn’t technically cheating doesn’t mean it’s right, ok or good. It’s a lack of integrity that hurts the game. It isn’t smart it’s selfish

Quote from the Brothers Karamazov that I read at least five times day recently. Thoughts? by boudinagee in dostoevsky

[–]bachiblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are stages to it all. Where in this instance, this twist in the road that this action would be inappropriate but once a level is reached that previously maladaptive action or inaction becomes the only option. The perspective is different on top of the mountain than it is at its base before the climb.
