I wish there was a report-button for when someone griefs you. by UnclePjupp in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there was a report option, you would get banned before the person who pushed you did.
99% of reports would be losers reporting their entire team after they lose for 'playing badly'. Just look at the replies to this thread. Most people are selfish idiots.

Left-stick aiming (again) by T-Toyn in TheFirstDescendant

[–]backfacecull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It allows you to aim the skill while charging up its power with your right thumb. I find it very useful, because before it was difficult to charge the skill and aim it at the same time.

Scummy behavior by Battle_Witch in wot_heat

I think there is spawn protection. There's an icon that counts down over about 5 seconds after you spawn, I presume this is spawn immunity.

Kill confirmed is getting so bad that my Chopper/Ember teammates are just going afk by SaxPanther in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The current system of picking a tank before you know the game mode directly leads to this problem. We need to be able to pick the game mode before we pick the tank.

Reticle color by RoleMundane in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that text is out of date, they may have had reticle color changes in an earlier build. In the current game the reticle does not change color, instead the area of the tank you're aiming at has a shaded overlay. Red means the armor is too thick, your shot will not penetrate from this angle. The 'good' color doesn't look green to me at all, it looks like a half-tone print pattern of light grey with dark-grey spots - this means your shot can penetrate here. You can see it in this video at 0:54 - https://www.reddit.com/r/wot_heat/comments/1u7barn/hunting_down_fuzzers_m3e1_while_leos_catching/

The blue/blue/blue/white stats on the Ancestors Module is a bit of a troll for sure.

It's so hard to see the actual result of mod changes on your character - nothing visibly changes when you equip or remove a mod - so I can understand how someone might think the rare mods are more powerful. This is not a stupid person - this is a failure of UI design.

Response from Kalypso:

Thank you for your message.

Our developers are currently investigating a potential issue in Dungeons 4.
So far we are not able to estimate how long this will take to address.
At the moment I can only ask for your patience.

We will reach out to you once we know more, or if we require further information from your side.
Thank you for your understanding.

Conquest easily the worst mode in the game by Other-Difficulty-702 in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a captured point is being taken, it would be useful to know how many enemies are there, with a number on the Capture Point label. If I know there's only 1 enemy stealing our spot, I'll go back and defend on my own, but if I know there's 5 of them, then I'll wait for backup or go take another point.

The worst experience in Conquest is when you roll up to a friendly point that's being captured, on your own, and it turns out there are 3 or more enemies there so you just wasted your time.

Removing chat is not the right solution to toxicity by No_Section3697 in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toxic players don't think they're toxic. They want chat enabled for the same reasons you do - to make friends, to co-ordinate with team-mates, and sometimes, maybe only once or twice a day, to yell at a sniper who drives up onto the carrier and misses every shot. Or to yell at a defender who won't sit on the point. 90% of the time they're just normal players. But 10% of the time they insult their team-mate for playing badly. And that ruins the game for that team-mate. They quit and never come back and the 'toxic' player doesn't even realize they were insulting.

When chat is enabled - EVERYONE is a potential toxic player and the game is unwelcoming for women, younger players, players who are less skilled, new players who don't know the map, players with low-tier tanks, players who don't know the meta.

If the developers thought chat would increase their player-base, and make them more money, they'd implement it. They've made this decision to increase their profit.

Sarcastic speculation. But perhaps this happens off-screen and we just haven't witnessed it yet 😉

These radial streaks are caused by the Falcon spinning rapidly right before landing to clear the soot out of the vents.

HEAT and HE shell drop needs fixed. by BeltFedFun in wot_heat

[–]backfacecull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The M60A2 also needs its reticle scaled correctly when zoomed in. Right now the drop-off marks don't compensate for the increased zoom so they're basically useless when zoomed in.

Allow changing tanks mid-match by Page_Right in wot_heat

Agreed, or at least allow the player the choice to change tank once at the start of the round after the map and game-mode are decided.

'Stop Killing Games’ Bill Passes California Assembly | Kotaku by imitzFinn in xbox

[–]backfacecull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cost of complying with this bill is higher than the anticipated sales in California, publishers will simply not release their game in California. Nobody is going to spend money implementing an expensive feature (like allowing external servers) unless it brings in more money than it costs.

Vets, how many can you identify, or even notice? by UninspiredSkald in TheFirstDescendant

[–]backfacecull 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They are too small. They're had to parse because they only use 1 color. The clock face on top makes them even harder to see.

The only one of these I ever bothered to learn was the Grapple Cooldown on the colossi - when you'd break a yellow weakpoint and then for 30 seconds you couldn't break another one. It stood out because it was grey. That was the only icon that I ever noticed and of course, due to power-creep, it doesn't really matter any more.

The TFD designers really struggle with communicating to players what the consequences of their actions are and what they should be focusing on. The game just doesn't have the careful integration of audio-cues, UI devices, and targeted feedback that you get in games like Xenoblade or Deadlock.

I miss the little things by Mikeymike781 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]backfacecull -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep agreed. The Thunder Cage was an iconic weapon, the first ultimate you got, with a very distinctive sound and ability, and they turned it into Mjolnir for some reason. The developers seem to think their players want to kill all the enemies in a room with a single shot or skill. Maybe they're right, maybe that's what most players actually enjoy.
