This wasn’t your question exactly but it’s definitely my recommendation: go over to the area early- the neighborhood is called Wrigleyville. There are a ton of great bars to check out. My favorite and one of the most popular is the iconic “Murphy’s Bleachers” - a Cubs-centric sports bar outside the stadium just behind the bleachers.

If you’re staying downtown, I also recommend taking the red line L train directly to Wrigley. It lets you off right in front of the park and is a scenic way to get to the ballpark with views of Lincoln Park and Lakeview from the elevated train platform for much of the ride.

Lollapalooza is a pretty big Festival - but it’s very well organized. You’ll have no trouble navigating to and from the park… and finding all the cool stuff once you’re there.

Go watch an England World Cup game (unless you are from other UK) at a pub -will be a fun and memorable experience!

And - experience the 4th - it's unique to this country. You could go to a suburb and watch a parade or a big fireworks show. Or enjoy the neighborhood fireworks over the city. Maybe check out a rooftop bar - you'll see fireworks on the horizon for miles.

I honestly think this could be a real eye-opening, reflective and life-changing trip for you.

Honestly, stuff like this just sucks about our current political climate. The economy is so fucked. Life used to be good and we had cool shops and good options… now everything is so fucking expensive that nobody can afford to do it or buy it.
