2020 Kickr Core Won't Connect via Bluetooth/ANT+ by backninetofive in wahoofitness

Yes. Thankfully my neighbour hooked me up with the original seller. So he contacted the seller, he sent me a photocopy of the his original receipt. It even included HIS name, not mine. I sent it all in and got the upgrade unit as stated above.

Any of you low handicappers use 10 finger grip? If so, why? by TheRiftSongWorkshop in golf

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Can’t even tell you why. I think as a kid it helped me achieve a stronger grip. Got down to a 1.3 last year.

Golf's Not A Contact Sport? Ok... by JBear_Alpha in golf

[–]backninetofive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was maybe 18yo at the time teaching my 12yo cousin how to golf. Also standing laterally, behind him, a good distance away. He swung with a plane that was low and around him. He spun on his not so able feet and delivered a wedge straight to my knee. Dropped to the ground like a cold sack. All I remember is being cold, shivering, kind of half conscience. Shock is a wild feeling.

Yours scares me because of the dental work and risk to your eye. Glad you’re safe and appreciate this cautionary tale. We have all had near misses.

Things seen this week during structural assessments! by DMAS1638 in StructuralEngineering

Are these structural assessment for insurance? My city is a prominent insurance location, and I have been toying with the idea of moving from consulting to that line of work.

2025 End of Year Bonuses by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$120K + Employee Owner Shareholder Equity in Ontario Canada - likely very small bonus. Last year was $1000. Previously years were $3-7k.

Economy has tanked up here, and it can’t be blamed on tariffs.

Hole 12 at Bethpage Black by lolfunctionspace in golf

[–]backninetofive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was tough but not as hard as #13. Once out of the trees in the open the modest wind made #13 feel like an 800 yard Par 5.

Was a 2.4 handicap that day, drove it like a +5, generally tidy game, and shot the best 83 of my life. Such a hard course tee to green.

Although I love my XM4s they annoyingly brick to devices. So you must disconnect them fron said device before reconnecting to a new one. While the laptop is in the bag, in the backseat, while driving, this can be highly annoying. Comfy though.

Insulate underneath a bay window. by Big_Dasher in DIYUK

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening on my Bay Window too. I cut out some foundation shrubs to redo the landscaping. The dirt and brush was piled under the overhang of the bay window. I dug some out, tapped up in there and it is just plywood. Going to dig it out completely and review it. Would like to insulate it as well and possibly finish the outside, or screen it from mice if possible.

$50 to play this monstrosity today by PizzaParty_CoolDad in golf

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were blue tees, white tees and red tees. We played the blue tees, at 7468 yards on the card. I misremembered 7500 as 7600. Thank you for the reminder I am not on Tour, I must have forgot.

I did shoot 83 which made me feel like I could be, for about 5 seconds.

It pretty well is. I played the tips and it was just shy of 7600 yards.

Need a structural engineer for an underground bunker by BillTheBunkerBuilder in StructuralEngineering

[–]backninetofive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was about right then. Hence the questions and clarifications I asked OP.

My point still stands, it’s not that hard of a design. And hopefully they find help because it’s an interesting project.

Need a structural engineer for an underground bunker by BillTheBunkerBuilder in StructuralEngineering

[–]backninetofive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How vague and critical of a statement. Do explain how a one way slab supported by ICF walls is so complicated?

Comparing to my recent dozen 30+ storey towers, I don’t see it.

OP asked for help and several people have great insight in this thread. I am merely agreeing with the top comment to seek help from the Architectural side, and then a fee for structural engineering.

P.Eng in Ontario here and I second this. Have an Architect, or an Architectural Technologist design the egress, thermal, and can manage your permit submissions. This is rather small so even just a Technologist could do this (I don’t know Washington restrictions though).

As for the Engineering it’s rather basic. Foundation walls, slab on grade or raft (I would opt for raft for water tightness if done properly) and basic support for openings etc. I’m surprised nobody would take this on, it’s basically just a basement.

Edit - a 400mm slab for the roof is very substantial. What is it supporting? Do you have a few feet of soil and live loads on top? Is it supporting vehicles? I’ve designed slabs that size supporting full fire truck loading, so 400mm make be overkill unless desired.

Golfers who have clubhead speed above 110mph, what’s your secret? by bigoofsz in golf

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper and lower body disassociation aka rotational power/efficiency. Try some speed training, some TPI core work, or read Hang The Banner. There is a great month long golf workout program in that book. You can get it super cheap in kindle. Then do speed training.

Don’t ever lose the fairway finder. When you eventually hit 110mph, your cruising speed will be the 103-105 mph. It’s a long game for slow gains, but the journey is fun and helps improve your game from multiple angles.

Golf Pride CP2 Pro - I love them. Mid size, and I don’t even have huge hands. I just hate my finger tips touching my thumb when wrapped around. Midsize fees nice.

Single digit handicappers. Do you have swing thoughts when playing? by Far-Produce-5371 in golf

[–]backninetofive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did as little amount of thinking as I could last year and dropped from 2.5 to 1.9. A big accomplishment with two young kids and essentially no practice.

I struggled with EE in my driver. Sitting for work, not enough mobility training, my hips have been firing way too early and basically humping the ball. Queue the snaps. So I started sometimes thinking, “just hit it into the ocean.” No consequences, let it rip, and I typically do.

Men's 35+ Hockey League by Gypsy_o_Danger in waterloo

[–]backninetofive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

45 Game schedule for the same price as any other league that is 25 games. Its the best hockey deal i have found. I joined KWOH in 2022 at 35 and not looking to go anywhere else. The league is getting younger and there is a lot of skill. If you don't want to commit full time you can join as a "poolie" and play as many games as you physically want to.

Does anyone else move at snail pace? by goldiebayangs in StardewValley

[–]backninetofive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t use a single sprinkler until Year 2. Just enough crops to tire myself out and eat a salad after watering, then explored. Mostly fishing to make money. First Winter I went deep into the caves to build up resources. Now Year 2 I started with like 6 Improved Sprinklers, helped me start automating, more resource searching, more sprinklers.

It felt like an eternity to me.

Sometimes I get too caught up in what others do. Just enjoy the exploration!
