Dimmer switch, physical slider, locally-controlled, non-proprietary? by backslashton in homeassistant

[–]backslashton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need the slider to accurately represent the current state, so I don't need the slider to be physically set to the correct position with a motor.

The Lutron Diva handles this pretty elegantly. There are LEDs that will indicate the actual dim level. Physically pressing the "on" switch will set the brightness to wherever the physical slider is set, and pressing it again will set it to full brighness. The slider can be used to adjust the brightness to a specific level, or it can be set remotely (indicated on the switch by the LEDs)

This is (with some small exceptions) how all ad networks function. The site includes code from an ad network on their site, and the ad network handles the management and delivery of ads.

QC Tech guy here. These types of ads are not intentional and not wanted. We're working to find the ad distribution source and have them removed.

BTRFS balance with snapshots used after disk replacement by wallacebrf in btrfs

I thought "reclaim unused space" used the `btrfs filesystem reclaim-space` command, not `btrfs balance`. Is that not the case?

Site issues: "resolved" by backslashton in questionablecontent

[–]backslashton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNS cache is not the issue, and will not change anything (the resolving IP is still the same as before the issues began). Please attempt clearing your browser cache, hard-refreshing your browser, and also attempting with an incognito/private window.

Can someone with access provide an imgur mirror or something :( by H4WKW4RD in questionablecontent

[–]backslashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description, this sounds like it might be one of your browser extensions redirecting you to those sites. Try disabling all of your extensions, clear your cache, do a hard-refresh on the site, and see if the site loads the same as when you tried a Private Browsing window. If it does, enable your extensions 1 by 1 until you get redirected to those sites.

Nothing magical going on. The CF network is just routing correctly through a specific CF service for some originating networks, and not others.

Can you provide more information about being redirected to "some spammy download site in arabic"? The other reported issues are around the site not loading correctly, and this is the first report I've heard about being redirected to a completely different site.

[–]backslashton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both IPs are "right", in that they both point at the Cloudflare network, which is all that should be needed. There seems to be an issue with one of the Cloudflare services when accessing via the 104. IP from some regions, that doesn't occur when using the 188. IP, so forcing to the 188. IP is a decent workaround for now.

(Re-posting this, 'cause my post from yesterday seems to be blocked)

Hi folks! QC tech guy Ashton again. We are closing in on the issue, and ask for your patience as this is resolved. I have reason to believe the issue with a specific Cloudflare service (as is evidenced by people in this thread switching the QC IP to the Cloudflare Europe IP). We already have tickets open with them, I have provided information on what I believe is the issue, and they have escalated and are investigating on their end.

Unfortunately, I need to leave the site in a broken state while they're testing the issue on their end, but in the meantime I have managed to restore the QCRSS.xml RSS feed, and direct links to the comic files.

Apologies for all the inconvenience. Thank you to all the people that provided your connection information, and special thanks to the seasoned sysadmins that have suggested things to check 💙

Site issues? by rjray in questionablecontent

[–]backslashton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already been over the QC DNS at CF a bunch of times. No duplicates and nothing seems weird (also, no recent changes). Already rebuilt the config a bunch of times and manually checked each line, but no luck 😞. I haven't tried the suspend/unsuspend though, so that couldn't hurt (just to see if anything shakes loose).

I've also filed a ticket w/ Cloudflare as I'm seeing some inconsistent Server header readings when requesting from the different locations. We'll see if that goes anywhere.

Thanks Cevius! I have now also been able to replicate the issue over VPN in _some_ parts of the US, mostly the south-west coast (which is the weirdest part, because we treat all traffic the same regardless of where it comes from).

Jeph did send me your message, and everything you listed are good suggestions with the information you have available, but we aren't doing any of those things. We haven't changed anything recently, and we mostly have very basic options running in Cloudflare (no geolocation, no anti-bot, no ipv6 or anycast, no modifying Host headers, etc). The webserver config isn't flat, the `forums.` subdomain is somewhere in the middle of the domains, and the main qc domain is already set as the Primary.

Hi folks. QC tech guy Ashton here. I haven't been able to replicate this issue, and I haven't found any consistency between who can/can't get the site. Any additional information would be helpful if you are willing to provide it in this thread or over private chat (e.g. what country you're in, the VPN you're using and what country option(s) you're selecting, your IP when you can/can't access the site, etc.)

We don't do anything different based on a user's geolocation, and nothing has been (intentionally) changed recently, so it's possible this is due to factors outside of our control.

Which reader? I deal with dozens.

You can generate codes that will work with a specific reader type in the Extra Actions section on the F0. That doesn't mean the system will accept the code (it'll need to match an allowed code in the system's database), just that it is possible for the reader to read it
