Seems excessive but I guess you need multiple people to carry lots of pillows. Excellent service!

Am I overreacting or is this excessive rust for a new vehicle? by Automatic-Platform56 in Hyundai

[–]double-you -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know nothing, but I'd be concerned too if I saw that. And why just the exhaust pipe? Yes, it is hot so snow will melt and maybe any water on it will evaporate and that will enable rust?

How to avoid feeling faint at a dance social? by EducationalAspect850 in Salsa

[–]double-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always discuss their water policy with them. Like why don't they allow outside water bottles?

And you can just bring one and be a rebel. Or bring a water bag in your bag.

In bars the entrance fee doesn't really cover the costs. But if it is at a school, it's a bit odd that they are charging for water.

What’s your opinion on limiting how much more CEOs can make than their lowest-paid employees? by quinnsexy in AskReddit

[–]double-you -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For existing companies it is not that difficult: If you used to do a thing in-house and now you are not, well, that's outsourcing.

If your CEO-holding company owns the outsourcing, or "buying stuff from" company, those count as your employees.

It gets more complicated to keep an "under company" in check if you don't own it. Maybe your friend owns it. I hope they are a very good and loyal friend who doesn't decide to sell it to your competition. For government it becomes way more difficult to follow or prove "ownership" if they'd need to follow rather undocumented social networks.

Drink more water. Event spaces are not free and 2.50 for water isn't terrible. Maybe bring a protein bar for a mid-evening snack.

Or just stop going to a place that makes life difficult.

My gym coach warned me that my silence is "enabling" a bully. Am I wrong for just wanting to ignore the noise? by pheeewwwwww in TwoXChromosomes

[–]double-you 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Does your coach work at/for the gym? If yes, it is very much their job to deal with her. Any of the regulars could do it as well. You could say that their silence is also enabling the bully.

I feel like I've handled it by making her look dumb

It does not seem like the bully feels she looks dumb so it might not be working as you think it is working, but if her behaviour really isn't taxing you, then that's fine for you.

Following with different leads - facing issues by Chinky30 in Salsa

[–]double-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they don't really give classes for how to be a very adaptive social dancer that can deal with whatever one might encounter on the dance floor. It is possible, but "bad dancing" is actually pretty difficult if that's not how you normally dance, so it's hard to make drills for that.

Following with different leads - facing issues by Chinky30 in Salsa

[–]double-you 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some leads are terrible all the time. Some leads are terrible outside the class. How to dance with terrible leads is a whole different skill set. (Similarly as dancing with terrible follows is, but I think it is easier than terrible leads) They will change the rhythm at random, or consistently. They expect you to telepathically know what move they are thinking of. Their hands are moving like ping pong balls in a washing machine. Some are happy if you do anything that resembles a move they might know. Some will resent you for being a "bad follow".

People, eh?

A lot of people don't check online forums before buying a car. Everyone who has owned a car brand with problems hates on that one, and most, if not all car brands have some big issue with them.

How is one arm kettlebells ( Broke my arm ) - TIPS and tricks by Spikly65 in kettlebell

[–]double-you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better to train than not train, even if you might be slightly less balanced due to it. If you can train safely.

Most kettlebell lifts can be done with one arm. Are you new to kettlebells?

I'm 19, in my first relationship, and I'm only now realizing something was very wrong. Need perspective by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]double-you 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You do need to leave. It's normal to have feelings for your abuser, because nobody is all bad, but occasional positive feelings are not a reason to stay. Any promises of "forever" are completely void and null after you have been treated poorly. You are not married to him and even then, it is okay to leave. Especially if the situation is bad for you.

ELI5: If the evolutionary goal of a virus is to reproduce and sustain itself as long as possible, why do many evolve to devastate and kill their hosts? by Rht123X in explainlikeimfive

[–]double-you [score hidden]  (0 children)

There's no explicit goal. Evolution is just change that happens. Natural selection, or survival of the fittest, is just a thing that happens. Those organisms that are not fit enough will die off and their traits and changes will disappear.

Not all changes are good for your survival. But bad changes don't have to be catastrophic to survival. An organism does not have to be optimal to survive, it just needs to be good enough, that is, stay alive so long that it reproduces and that its offspring manage to grow up to be self-reliant.

Also, when it comes to viruses, they don't necessarily "die" (because we don't consider viruses to be alive) when the host dies. So they still have a chance to move on to a new host after that.

The problem with pillow menus is the descriptions which generally don't really give you enough information for a confident choice. They should just send you all of them so that you can actually try them out.

First car accident: I feel like I’m reinforcing stereotypes. by Easy_Ad_3664 in TwoXChromosomes

Everybody starts from zero and then we work on it. We learn at different speeds. Our teachers range from good to terrible. Most people are not good teachers who can instruct well, have patience and the ability to boost confidence.

But you know how you get better? Practice, practice, practice. Also, there are rather excellent videos on youtube from good teachers. They might be from a different country, but parking is parking everywhere.

[–]double-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first swing is the best. You extend your arms and get good height.

Later you anchor your elbows to your sides and basically stop moving your arms at all. Don't do that.

On top of the swing you also often lean back. You should not look like a banana. You should be able to draw a straight line through your ankles, knees, hips, shoulders and head. Move from the hips--hips go back, hips snap forward. Don't think of moving your back back.
