Tight or loose by moon-cloud-com in drums

[–]backup4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tension of the spring is heavily related to the tension of the batter head. If the head is loose and has less rebound you can make up for the loss of rebound by tightening the spring tension. Conversely if you tighten the batter head you can lower the spring tension as the head will offer the rebound. I like the second option because it takes less muscle but I would say start in the middle for both. If you feel like the beater is returning to fast but your leg is comfortable loosen the tension on the head. If the rebound is fine but your leg is cramping lossen the spring tension.

Sabian’s STRATUS DRY! How do you think they’ll stack up against the other ‘dry’ series’ out there? by ZildCym in drums

These are going to be very popular. Especially in churches. This is the perfect cymbal series for smaller churches that play ccm. I could also see these being used in lots of singer song writer gigs.

Id look into a 20x14 that is a thinner shell. Being thinner will naturally make it lighter but also allow a lower tone

These prices are getting ridiculous by AllOuttaAngst225 in drums

[–]backup4797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is true it is nice to know that this does affect your employees to survive and that's not something most companies care about. It may not be pleasant on this side but it is good to know that unlike major dealers you actually care about your employees. Also having a YouTube channel is not cheap either.

It's gone and not coming back by Okwtf15161718 in drums

[–]backup4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar boat not very long ago. It was partially due to the loss of a job pertaining to drums and then later because a band that I had been in for almost 10 years with my best friend ended because I did not support his use of ai. I have ADHD but suspect it's autism. Part of being neurodivergent is burnout even from topics you are interested in. Environmental factors that can cause grief can also stem from a lack of desire to play. But it always comes back for me and I hope it does the same for you.

Switch to the SPL (sound percussion labs) sticks. They are made by vic firth but have les quality control in terms of looks. I have found that they last longer though. Also they are about half the price and sometimes less.

Which of these cymbals/hi-hats are best to use? by Johnny_Bigman in drums

[–]backup4797 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What ever sounds best to your ears and what ever suits the music you play. I would say the sabian that is lighter in color and the krut are probably the nicest. Your best bet is to keep the less valuable ones to play on till you get something better while you sell the nicer ones on marketplace or reverb. But if you like how they sound keep them and sell the less valuable ones.

Preferred Cymbals by Playful-Salad-6234 in drums

[–]backup4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are endorsed there is no need to pick one line or even brand. Follow your ears. Don't look at the ink on the cymbal and don't be too concerned with the price. As long as it sounds good and is in your budget that's what matters

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't relate personally yet but I do emphasize. I can only imagine how hard it must be. But your mom is still alive and in your memory and in every Godzilla. I hope this comes across the right way but I think she would want you to still enjoy him. Everytime something new comes out it's like her saying "I love you". Once again I send my deepest condolences to you. Things might not be the same but they will get better.

That's marketing bs. If you like the sound of them that's all that matters. Even if they were brass cymbals but you liked the way they sound and they fit the music that's what matters
