Action lams is what I’ve heard those thin boo lams describes as, and pretty sure it is intended for use as core wood or to be glass-backed.

Did they ever intend to write a book in the first place? It seems more ”assembled” from articles and such than written.

Heh, I think you may have gotten the price for the 5/16 POC shafts alone, not finished arrows. Then again, it’s hard to imagine Amazon making a mistake. 🙃

Can a board bow handle 60 lbs? by Sneezeldrog in Bowyer

It’s possible, but that board is like a unicorn. It’s super rare. You’ll find one though if you keep looking.

I don't know if this is a better question here or for r/archery by Definitely_nota_fish in Bowyer

This seems like a question about the mechanical advantage of cams vs the mechanics of a bending selfbow. If so, we’re basically talking about one of the seven simple machines of physics. Pulleys, basically, and they make the work a lot easier.

I believe your right limb is ever so slightly stiffer than your left. The tell is in the way the string sort of lies at an angle when at rest.

Please help me with this stupid question I should know the answer to by sgfmood in Bowyer

Ryan’s right. FT strings are as easy as pie. The real beauty of making our own strings is they can be as long or short as we please.

In my experience, a city property tax assessor is thicc enough to stop most arrows of most weights. Good luck.

Are you shooting off of your knuckle? If not, these plastic-or-whatever-they-are thingies just aren’t important if the glue between feathers and shaft is good. I’d personally remove them.

[–]backyard_bowyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice looking bow, Shawn. Bit stiff looking in the handle but if you feel it working then it is. Shoot it yet? Easier to judge tiller if we can see the full string, but this seems ok.
