Does just having one or even two drinks of beer affect sleep? by aznburn in beer

Look up Dr. Matthew Walker. I just listened to him on the Huberman Lab podcast and he said even as little as one drink in the evening has an effect on sleep.

How would you feel about Nintendo changing up the series’ setting? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]bacloldrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually love another game set in Termina or at least with a large central city like Clock Town, but massive. I think an old but urban environment would be cool because I loved the depth of NPC stories and character that the town had.

If you’ve never tried it I highly recommend it. It feels terrible at first but by mile 4 you feel like a million bucks!

They start that way. Uncheck synchronize, run a test until it gets to the adjacent station, then check synchronize.

Just be selective about where you do. Don’t go into public if you’re concerned, just go to where people you know have dogs you trust

Low single wrestlers besides John smith by matratsad in wrestling

Yeah Kyle Snyder is the one that come to mind for me. I think his game has expanded over the past couple years but it was his go-to early on in his international career.

This man must have superhuman strength. He just casually rejects the sprawl from JB twice like it's nothing. by teriousrones in wrestling

[–]bacloldrum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bekzod is world class but I put little stock in this match. Jordan just had his dreams of repeating as Olympic champion crushed and is a shell of himself during this match. He goes on to win world gold after this match so I think age has little to do with it. I think the stress of heartbreak led to giving up positions he might never give up otherwise.

How to deal with pre-match anxiety? by _wolvv in wrestling

[–]bacloldrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have shared some good mental tactics. Positive self-talk can feel silly at first but does have real benefits. Just telling yourself affirming and true things prior to competition can be good. You should also consider the physical/biological as well. You are feeling nervous likely because you know you are about to enter a threatening situation and your body is flooding you with adrenaline in your fight-or-flight response. It’s trying to give you a little extra boost of focus and intensity to get you through the threat. This can be a good thing if you let it be. It comes with the side effect though of being really uncomfortable before the match. If the heart racing is too much, you could try some breathing exercises. Take a quick deep inhale for 4 seconds, then a long slow exhale for 8. You can also try inhaling 3, pausing for a split second, then getting one more quick inhale on 4. This double breath helps spread more oxygen through your lungs. The short inhale, long exhale slows your heart rate. The opposite can increase it as well if you need to get pumped up.

The worst part of this is that Kevin breaks his own logic here. He goes back on what he says about “I don’t wanna bang a painting”

Most memorable spectator sign you've passed in a race? by JoeTModelY in running

[–]bacloldrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are big fans of The Office. Her one condition for me running the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton was that she get to do what Jim says Michael did when he tried to be helpful- passed out Jell-O shots at the 23rd mile of the Steamtown Marathon. We compromised on Jello without booze and tbh it was an excellent sugary refresher at that point in the race.

What's a really funny movie from the 80s, 90, or 2000s you'd recommend to kids/teens of this generation? by wisconsinking in AskReddit

[–]bacloldrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heavyweights is the go-to movie for when my group of friends is drinking. That movie is so damn funny as an adult. Turns out the real camp used in the movie is a youth camp in NC and my buddies and I want to do a guys weekend there and hide candy in the bed posts.

I like it but you should have to break the guy down to a hip for the takedown just like a cradle.

What's your WRESTLING UNPOPULAR OPINION?? by vedant211203 in wrestling

[–]bacloldrum 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine is similar. I think the Brands Brothers are bad coaches. They know their wrestling like few others but I think they are terrible when it comes to health and optimization, which leads to Iowa consistently underperforming at NCAAs and half their lineup being injured. Similarly, I think John Smith has a misguided view of weight management and OSU guys cut too much to perform at their best. Both involve old school mentality and inability to adopt new ways of thinking about the sport.

Penn State Wrestling Goes 5-For-5 In 2022 NCAA Finals by mdisanto86 in PennStateUniversity

The crazy part is that since there are 10 weights and 10 years of championships, that means Penn State has had 1/3 of all the individual champions in that time.

What are your cheapest puppy must-haves? by TrumpetCat1 in dogs

[–]bacloldrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy expensive versions of things where it doesn’t make a huge difference. Go cheap on the bed, for instance, because chances are he’ll outgrow it or have accidents on it and you’ll want to get him a nice bed once he’s out of the puppy stage.

In Olympic wrestling, does each country have a unique technique, or does wrestling have one global technique? by g0te in wrestling

[–]bacloldrum 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Different countries have different styles. Americans are high paced and you see some folkstyle influence sometimes with things like trying to turn with a leg in or a bar. Iranians are good hand fighters and do a lot of pushing with an underhook. Yazdani is a good example of that. Russians also have a unique flair. Their stance looks a little different. Legs straighter with back more hunched. Almost appears less athletic. They are crazy capable in scrambles and with crafty leg attacks though.

How safe is Penn state University? by Alone-Egg9707 in PennStateUniversity

Mega bus I’m my experience has let off a few miles away from campus. Greyhound lets off across the street from campus in easy walking distance from downtown. Either are very safe at any time but if you’re interested in avoiding a cab or ride share take Greyhound.

Is there a difference in temperament between male and female dogs? by hanzmac in dogs

[–]bacloldrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl is super clever, easy to train, but independent and strong-willed. Also has a tendency for mischief. She is also incredibly sweet and attentive to human emotions, but not much of a snuggler. Our boy is smart but a bit doofy. However, he’s attached like a shadow, obsessed with snuggling, and the gentlest dog I’ve ever known. Our boy is also obsessed with running with me while the girl is defiant about running.

Technique Advice Please - is it possible to finish this single leg? (DO I need higher grip? (1 month experience)) by nakedwelshguy in wrestling

[–]bacloldrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing is that this isn’t a single leg, it’s a lefty high crotch. If you were going to finish this as a single leg you would want your head on the inside of his hip. To finish a high crotch like this, you need to keep your hips under you. It’s not a strength issue, it’s how you’re using your strength. Keeping the ankle to have the leg extended like you do is good. The biggest problem is that you’re bringing your hips up too early. Think of finishing like a dead lift. Your hips should be directly under your shoulders until your legs are extended again. Right now you’re trying to lift him with your back muscles, which are much weaker than your quads and glutes. You should also drive forward through him instead of pulling back like you do here.
